2. Tell us about your sweetheart - pure romance or humour.
3. How did St. Valentine come to be associated with romance?
4. Pull all the symbols of roses, hearts, chocolates, and whatever else comes to mind into a spoof of the season.
Usual rules:
1. No black backgrounds, please.
2. Rhyming poems are appreciated.
3. Two entries allowed: Pre-writes welcome.

Contest is Over
- Contest was judged on February 16, 2008
- Rewards: Gold: 1500, Silver: 1000, Bronze: 1000, Honorable mention: 4 people
- Final notes: Thank you all for a most enjoyable contest! Your humour and love overflowed in poetry, and both Hugh and I were happy with the outcome of the voting.
Maureen wins the honour of a gold trophy and setting the next contest. Jenelda was awarded silver. There was a tie for bronze - Hugh and I hope that Maureen will not object to giving it to ImaHealer. We increased the HMs by one because of the three way tie and Maureen's second poem.
We hope that you all enjoyed St. Valentines' day. Thank you!

Wow! Wow! WOW!
LOVE has always been my favorite subject. It's one of my favorite hobbies..reading about it, learning about it, feeling my best when I'm feeling it, feeling my worst when I don't. At first I didn't understand why you hoped I wouldn't mind that imahealer received the bronze trophy..then came the dawn and I realized I was one of those tied for third place because of my first entry "Happily Ever After" (which I wrote, then rewrote, and kept rewriting until it became a poem that was more than just sappy (which is how it started out in 2003). Re: "My Valentine Song Just For You"...I'm so glad you like my sense of humor. When it comes to humor, I'm like the actor I quoted (whose name escapes me now) who said, "I'd rather laugh than do anything else." Another quote I like is "Laughter is like an instant vacation." Sometimes I think I'm psychic..I did a lot of laughing last night, I was in a very good mood..it was almost as if I knew something good was going to happen today.
Thank you very much to everyone who voted for my poems. Needless to say, you MADE MY DAY!
I think my next contest will be one that gives you Options. Hopefully, one of the Options will appeal to you and will make you feel like entering the contest. I HOPE SO!
Forgive my verbosity..it isn't everyday I win a GOLD trophy, Honorable Mention and 1530 points (300 of which will be returned to huguenauties bank for the next contest which I hope won't seem puny in comparison).
Thanks again! I wish I could hug all of you (whether you voted for me or not)!
