Hey guys ^_^
Third contest going now. :] I love this site so much. I come here whenever I feel like crap.
Anyway, it was my birthday January 15th and I got this awesome book called a "Quotationary" ["Quotationary" by Leonard Roy Frank for anyone who's interested] and as I was flipping through it, I saw some pretty inspiring quotes. I thought it'd be fun to have a contest based on it. ^_^
So, with that being said, let's get to the quotes!
------------------------------------------------------
Option/Category 1-[Death]
*I, fed with judgement, in a fleshly tomb, am
Buried above ground.
-William Cowper (1731-1800)
*To die is poignantly bitter, but the idea of having to die without having lived is unbearable.
-Erich Fromm (1900-1980)
*Tired of living,
And scared of dying.
- Oscar Hammerstein II (1895-1960)
Option/Category 2-[Last Words]
*Only one man ever understood me... And he didn't understand me.
Georg Hegel (1770-1831)
*Turn up the lights; I don't want to go home in the dark.
O. Henry (1862-1910)
*I am ready.
Woodrow Wilson (1856-1924)
Option/Category 3-[Love]
*To wait an Hour-is long-
If Love be just beyond-
To wait Eternity-is short-
If Love reward the end-
Emily Dickinson (1830-1886)
*Him that I love, I wish to be
Free-
Even from me.
Anne Morrow Lindbergh (1907-2001)
*Let your love be like the misty rain, coming softly, but flooding the river.
Saying (Madagascan)
Option/Category 4-[Suicide]
*I am leaving at last a world where the heart must either break or turn to bronze.
Chamfort (1741-1794) -suicide note-
*Razors pain you;
Rivers are damp;
Acids stain you;
And drugs cause cramp;
Guns aren't lawful;
Nooses give;
Gas smells awful;
You might as well live.
Dorothy Parker (1893-1967)
*The man who, in a fit of melancholy, kills himself today may have wished to live had he waited a week.
Voltaire (1694-1778)
Option/Category 5-[Tears/Sadness]
*A tear is deeper than the sea.
Samuel Jacob Imber (1889-1942)
*What happens to all the tears we do not shed?
Jules Renard (1864-1910)
*I'm just as blue as the sky,
Since love is gone,
Can't pull myself together.
Guess I'll hang my tears out to dry.
Sammy Cahn (1913-1993)

So, the goal here is to become inspired by these quotes. I would really prefer that you enter a fresh write. I believe that the best poets can come up with something amazing with inspiration provided. However, if you think you have something already written that relates to one of these quotes, feel free to enter it. ^_^ Have fun! But first, THE RULES!!
Rules:
1-> Do not use the quote in your actual poem
2-> NoNe Of ThIs. It's extremely annoying and ruins the poem completely out of sheer immaturity.
3-> Use correct grammar and spelling. PLEASE! The English language is your friend. Don't mangle it.
4-> Please put the quote you've chosen inside your Author's Notes. ^_^
5-> If you must use erotica or curses, that's fine, just tone it down a bit.
I do not disqualify. But, there will only be one winner. Gold. :] I hope you guys have fun!
