Contest is Over
- Contest was judged on February 3
- Rewards: Gold: 500, Silver: 300, Bronze: 200, Honorable mention: 5 people
- Final notes: The contest Writer’s Choice has ended, and I skipped the Super Bowl to read your poetry, dedication huh? There was some wonderful poetry in the contest and I hope you all enjoyed the comments in the styles and voices of some of the writers who have given so much encouragement and support to me, and this contest was a token of my appreciation.
I chose on the basis of my subjective judgment of the merits of the poetry and added some Emerald awards because there were so many poems just to good to be left without an honor; my selections are as follows:
Dreamtime Delicacies - Gold Award
wonderful flow and expression in free verse: well used alliteration, internal rhyme and assonance; depth and wonderful imagery.
Orange Zest - Silver Award
a lovely and expressive free verse poem using color and the natural beauty of the moon and night sky to wonderful effect, full of passion and romance.
Softer - Bronze Award
an unique and quiet voice here, using the imagery of household effects to show
a subtle and delightful passion, so very creative.
Emerald Awards:
Harvest moon - a wonderful poem, so well written in showing imagery.
O Night – very expressive and passionate writing here, so very well done.
Softness Like Petals ~ a sigh in the moonlight here, soft and wonderful poetry.
Absence Aggravates Soft Night - a well written poem, points to difficulties and resolutions, well done, difficult to do in a short poem.
Reading Moonbeams - very well done, wonderful phrasings and imagery.
My thanks to all of the writers, i enjoyed reading your poetry, and there were many more worthy poems than awards. Until next time, please be safe and well...PK
