he sunk like an anchor, like a lump of sugar he dissolved

cocorosie once said that he sunk like an anchor, a lump of sugar, and dissolved. on the anniversary of his death, she drew a beautiful picture of a whale. a picture of a whale. she drew a beautiful picture of a whale.

Contest is Over

  • Contest was judged on January 25, 2008
  • Rewards: Gold: 300
  • Final notes:
I allowed myself to slightly ponder at the end of each of these, and for the first time in my four year's history of judging contests, I found no entry to make me want to hurt myself. And in fact, I truly enjoyed each piece. (If this was all pleasantries, I wouldn't waste my time even typing it. So take this to heart.)

Thank you all for the wonderful thoughts.
    J

In high school, I was always in advanced math classes. I never knew why... I never got anything higher than D's. And the teachers said I was a good kid, and always gave me C's and B's. Maybe they knew I was a poet.

And yep, I know only stellar poetry will come from you. I anticipate it.

Nearly 20k points, and a spiffy new membership paid for with my own credit card... it warranted a contest, no?

You certainly are mixing your metaphors.

Blame the musicians, not me! Haha, I never noticed the paradox until you mentioned it though.

OH! It's a song! I thought you had just juxtaposed some imagery.

Haha, nope! This band is very interesting. They are a group of two sisters who were raised and lived separate lives; one in New York, the other in Hawaii. Both met up one night in Paris, and in her apartment recorded the first album. All it took was one night. One sings opera, the other has a very odd voice. They used guitars, harps and children's toys. It made one great, odd sound.

I was listening to a song I never listened to from them the other day, and it contained the above. I was instantly in love.

Oh my god, they are genious.
This song is called "The Sea is Calm." Get that and "Madonna." "Madonna" is beyond words.
