This artist is, quite frankly, a genius. His art is pieced together in the most specific manner, and his finished products are breathtaking. However, it's the process that's most stimulating, especially with his "throw away" art.
Now, as poets, I'm asking you try a similar process.
Write a new poem by piecing together bits from your other poems. You can't use whole stanzas. Only images or single lines. Meaning, you can't use the word "the", because you need it to connect two images or lines, and say the word came from such-and-such poem. You must use complete thoughts, ideas, images, lines from your previous works.
Your poem must be at least five lines long, and no more than 20. You can use NO NEW WORDS... only clips and bits and pieces from your various other works. They must be pieced together to form a cohesive new poem.
Please state, in your author notes, the poems from which you've taken your lines or images. Providing links would be of great help to me in seeing your process unfold, by allowing me the opportunity to read the poems in which your lines originally appeared.
Have fun with this. I know I will.

Contest is Over
- Contest was judged on February 3, 2008
- Rewards: Gold: 300
- Final notes: Thank you everyone! I know this contest required some digging and more work than most want to put into a contest (me included), so I appreciate that you all gave this idea a shot. And really, this is one of the few contests in which I'm happy with every entry received for different reasons. I hope you'll all take the time to read each other entries, and mayhaps even try this process again sometime
