What is your favorite game? No, don't tell me, show me through poetry. Make me interested in playing your game. Maybe some of you now think of computer games, but maybe you like something else, like card games, or board games, or something completely different? Write in any form you like, except free form. Rhyme, rhythm, and flow is asked for, but not demanded. Be creative.
1. Do not mention the game with any word in the poem itself, I want to feel the poem speak to me about the game. You may mention the game in the authors comments.
2. Do not tell me your name in any way, and in your comments, ask people commenting not to write your AP-name. I will disqualify those I find the name of...
3. The usual rules apply; no bashing, no sticky caps, no geek speak, no erotica (this is a contest for all ages).
4. Last but not least, add the words "What's Your Game?" to the authors comments, so I know you read the rules.

Contest is Over
- Contest was judged on January 30, 2008
- Rewards: Gold: 300, Silver: 200, Bronze: 100, Honorable mention: 10 people
- Final notes: I am sad that no more joined the contest, I thought it would be more, especially as it was open for prewrites. I only had to disqualify one, but two of the remaining 7 did not make it to the finalists. Those who received a trophy of any kind have well deserved it, be it gold, silver, bronze, or honorable mention. Each of you made an impression on me, as you can see from the comments I made. But ofcourse some had to win, and here is my judgement...
First place, rewarding a gold trophy, and 300 points goes to "I Just Love This Game". The authors glowing passion for baseball burned a picture of a match in my mind, and has rekindled my old passion for baseball.
Second place, rewarding a silver trophy, and 200 points goes to "The Game". This Shakespearean Sonnet is a beautiful description of a game of chess, another of my childhood passions. The author of this poem could just as easy have been the winner.
Third place, rewarding a bronze trophy, and 100 points goes to "Fairy Castle". This was a wonderful, almost childish rhyme, that snared my passion for fantasy. A clear trophy winner, just barely under the two other trophy winners.
Fourth and fifth place, rewarding honorable mention, and 30 points, was split between "His Little Green Cap", which was about Zelda, and "My Addiction..." which was about Sudoku. Zelda was a game I played much some years back, and Sudoku is a game I've taken interest in lately. One is as good as the other, neither is better than the other.
I would like to ask you to make one last visit to the contest page, and write a comment on the contest itself. What did you think about it? What poem did you write, and what is your poet name? As this was an anonymous contest, your name was withheld from my knowledge, and may still be...

Oh no,
the gold was not yours because I enjoy baseball, but because YOU enjoy baseball, and so passionately that your glow for it shines in other peoples eyes. The title, "I Just Love This Game" fits perfectly, in that manner... Not to repeat myself from my comment on the poem and in the contest closure, but I Just Love Your Poem.

A great big THANK YOU FOR THE BRONZE TROPHY!! Grinning here...
I liked this contest very much and am delighted to have been appreciated here with my 'lil fantasy poem. Not sure if everybody realizes that every day is filled with game playing of some sort, on some level and it only takes a little imagination to realize what your favorite game really is.
My admiration to all who came to this fine contest.

Magic
is all around us, and it takes only a little fantasy to see it. It is everywhere, be it a troll in the trees, a fairy in the flowers, a castle in the clouds, or gnome in the grass. You truely deserved a trophy, and the prize points are well deserved. I have read some on your page, and see that you write much for children, in a childs voice as "Fairy Castle", and I admire that. I will take my time to read through your poems properly later. I have also a poem that some say is as written with a childs voice, "Harry the Log" at http://allpoetry.com/poem/2186543 - read it and tell me what you think.
