Contest~Your Choice

Hehe, welcome to my first contest. I haven't been on AP for very long, but I think I get the basic gist of this all.

Accepting PWS, come check it out~
I've noticed that some contests the winners just "happen" to be there friends/family.

Yeah...
I don't do that.

If i wanted to give my friends a trophy, I wouldn't have the contest open to the public. I want to see good work, and if that happens to be my friend's, so be it, but if it isn't, they won't get a trophy. Simple as that.

Well lets see.

I'm basically accepting everything: Love, hate, suicide, humor, etc.

You can use the picture, or not. I just liked the picture xD. Write about something on your mind, something bugging you, something, anything, or just turn in your favorite prewrite.

Just make it good, and non cliched.

I will admit, that I like dark/angsty poetry better, but I'm completely open to humor, love and all that fun stuff.

I will also admit, I'm a fan of free verse  / non rhyming/ whatever you want to call it. But, that's not to say that if it rhymes, it can't win.

No dirty pretty. Sorry, I don't understand that stuff.

No erotica or sensual stuff. No thanks.

I have no problem with cursing but if it's every other word, it's being overdone.

No "omg I cut my wrists omg omg my life sucks blah blah blah." You want to write about abuse or cutting? go ahead, I encourage you. Emotions need to be let out somehow, and if you use writing to do that, good. But make it meaningful and not the same cookie cutter crap you can read anywhere.

Please please please please pleaseeeeeeeeeee~
Check your spelling, really. AP even provides a spell check button for you, so I see no reason for typos.

Check your grammar in general aswell, please.

Metaphors, personification, allusion, it's all loved and wanted :]

Literary Devices are your FRIENDS.

PLEASE DO NOT MAKE LOVE TO YOUR SHIFT KEY. THIS IS ANNOYING IS IT NOT?

Sticky caps, I've never actually seemed a poem written in sticky caps... o0.

I want something with atleast 10 lines, Not that much to ask for. I usually enjoy longer poems.

Don't make it so i have to highlight your poem to read it. Keep the font/background colors contrasted nicely.

Any questions, comments, just message/IM/Email me. I check it all daily.

I will add more trophies and HMs when enough people apply, and I'll add some points points when I get them.

Oh! I almost forgot. You can enter as much as you want, I'll read it all!

I don't know if I am a harsh judge or not, and I might bring my friend in here for a second opinion if I can't choose. I'll try to comment every work entered.

GoodLuck!

Give me your favorites!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Wow! I didn't think so many people would enter the first day. It's crazy! Well, Since this is my first contest, and I'm kinda new to this judging stuff, I'm gonna cap it at 50 or 60... So, get your new stuff written and your old stuff in! <3Dak
Contest is Over
  • Contest was judged on January 16, 2008
  • Rewards: Gold: 300, Silver: 200, Bronze: 100, Honorable mention: 4 people
  • Final notes:
    Well! Jeez. That was much harder then I thought it would be. I respect judges so much more now. Lol.
    Well, I wish I could give every single finalist and even some that I didn't put up there trophies, but alas, I don't have enought points.
    Sorry to anyone who thought theirs deserved to win, but we judge according to our own tastes, and these have sufficently satisfied my poetic hunger for tonight.
    I will be posting up a new contest, as soon as I get enough points, because this was a lot of fun, really. Though it'll probably be an options contest so it doesn't fill up so fast.
    I'm going to go and add all of you wonderful poets to my favorites [if you're not already there].
    Thank you to EVERYONE for your entries :]
    <3Dak.
      Hehe. Most people want "fresh" stuff, but I don't want to miss out on any great writes. Poems are poems in my book :]
    Didn't think I would have to say this, but try not message me, it takes away from the whole "anonymous contest" bit. And just because your poem isn't entered into the prelims right away doesn't mean it has no chance. This is my first contest, and first read through guys, cut me some slack and give me a time to make my choices
