HAIGA

Author of this amazing haiga is Silvija Butkovic. Don't use it without credits, please.

If you do not know what haiga is, please do not enter.
But, if you still decide to be a part of this contest, you can learn about haiga on the following site:

http://www.reedscontemporaryhaiga.com/WhatIsHaiga.htm

The reason for this contest is that I want to make a great tribute to Silvija Butkovic, the friend of mine, who is a proud WHA member and high rated as a Master Haiga Artist.

http://www.worldhaiku.net/haiga_contest/46th/silvija_butkovic.html

1. I want your original art work. It must be photography or paintings of your own, with your sign on it.

2. You must be able to use some of picture editing programs.

3. Prewritten haiga is allowed if fits to this contest rules.

4. If you want, you may reserve a spot.

5. Read carefully all rules.

Good luck.

Contest is Over

  • Contest was judged on January 27, 2008
  • Rewards: Gold: 2000, Silver: 500, Bronze: 300, Honorable mention: 3 people
  • Final notes:
Thank you for all your nice pictures and painting and for the all effort you put to make your haigas unique. I tried to judge it simple but it was pretty hard. Here is my explanation:

I decided to give to each maximum of 30 scores.

    1. for picture or painting quality (clarity, visibility, uniqueness...)
    2. for text layout
    3. for haiku

Haigas Swan and Haiga was in the battle for the firs place with the same number of scores - but then decided to deduct 0,1 pts to Haiga because of its title.

    And here we go:

    1. Swan 30 of 30

    2. Haiga 30 of 30 negative points – title -0,1 final scores 29,9

    3. The rose 29,8 of 30

    HM - Silent watch 28,8

    HM - Footprints 28

    HM - squirrel 28

I am not a professional haiga judge. I was thinking that Silvija, as a World Master of Haigas would be able to help me with her votes but unfortunately her best friend died accidentally and I can't disturb her in her grieve.

I hope that haiga will come interesting to wider audience of Allpoetry poets and artists.

Congratulations to winners and I hope to see all of you in one of the next Haiga contest.

this is lovely, Sonja - love the combination of arts here. I can draw or paint to save my life, lol but I have taken a few pictures and sometimes I write poetry too . Will see if I can combine all those elements. a lovely challenge this one.

May we enter more than once? I suddenly have a desire to turn all my photography into haigas.

I would put this more to Senyru than Haiku being its with a picture expressing emotion or moments in time present or past...unfortunately I am not a paid member now and cannot post picture poems...
though I must add...words with pictures become more explicitly beautiful...
