Dear poets,
Recently I've felt inspired to write more spiritual poetry. I am not the most talented writer I'll admit and I would rather read poems that are of spiritual theme.
I love poetry that is centered around fantasy. I love stories like A Little Princess and The Secret Garden. If you could make your poem magical and spiritual I would love to reward you with points and trophies.
I have decided that even though I am attracted to paganism I am really meant to be what I have always been and that is a Christian. But that doesn't mean I don't love Pagans and Paganism. I love all religions that have unique qualities and all religions that put their practice to doing good things.
I'm looking for spiritual poetry that puts your heart into the poems. I will judge them based on technique and imagery and the kinds of thoughts that they invoke within me. I think all poems are good at a base level unless they are purposely crude or distasteful.
Something I'd hope to read would be something that brings light to dark things. I hope I get a lot of entries.
I have plenty of points saved up and if this is a good contest I will raise the points.

I most certainly think that you should include prewritten work. Many Allpoetry members undoubtedly have on file work that would be relevant to this competition - and would provide you with the kind of "uplift" you are seeking!

ah i have written many spiritual poems though i don't know if any of them can be considered 'uplifting'. I'll have to sort through and see what I can put or I'll just submit a new one. Nice contest btw.

This is a REALLY good idea for a contest. I have been feeling more...aware of my spiritual side lately, so I'm really excited to read some of these entries. I'm not sure if I'll enter (my writing tends to lean more towards the darker side of things) but if I get some inspiration, I'll definitely enter.

Heh, spirituality is such a general subject. Not necessarily just religion but the human condition. I dont think spirituality is intended to solely be the ability to discern good from bad, right from wrong; but be able to also find a middle ground, or perhaps a differing view of "good" and "bad."
