Please read the whole thing before entering... I may extend the deadline...
Introduction
First things first. I am especially inviting a few of my favorite poets in this contest, but I want a lot more people to enter.
This is an experiment.
I and surely most poets like it when someone has their own style, a voice that goes beyond talent and defines that particular individual. Think for example of e.e.cummings (the other examples that come to my non-American mind are not as popular).
So this experiment is only for my invitees, but the contest is for everyone.
What I'm trying to do here:
With this contest I am hoping to show myself how well I know my favorites poetry-wise, possibly make new favorites, and hopefully let the invitees learn more about their poetry and themselves.
The idea...
So my idea is as follows:
Please anyone who would like enter a new poem, in your style. On any topic. Please don't make your poem too long. There are no restrictions, but please use common sense
The following poets are my special invitees
:
-Miss-Samantha-
Cat
Karamel Kandy
Nicole Hanna
Nicolette
chaotic peace
kaibab
myron
the hill in bloom
Zayra Yves
So please, you folks and anyone else, don't hesitate to enter. This could prove to be an interesting experience for everyone
I will go to extreme length in order not to see who you are. I will do everything possible to remember never to visit AP's homepage OR any of the invitees' profiles while holding this contest. This contest is supposed to be anonymous - so please do NOT sign your entry (I will not print any) and ask in your author notes that nobody call you by your name or screen name. You will not be DQed if you fail to do this, but half the fun will be gone
In my comment (which I WILL leave even if it takes me a while) I will add to the actual comment whether I think you are one of the invitees and if so, who. Only based off your poem. After I do that ONLY, please reply to my comment saying if my guess was right (or just reply, since that will let me know). I hope you guys find the idea interesting enough to enter
RULES:
Do everything you possibly can to stay anonymous.
Please make sure your poem is creative; do stick with your own style but please, make it worth reading
Also, it would be nice (not a rule, I'm just asking) if you could be open-minded about this. I may mistake you for someone else or think you're not on my favorites though you are - I'm only human. Let's see the fun in it
How this will be judged:
I will judge mostly based on quality and creativity. If I can guess a favorite by his/her style, s/he WILL have a better chance of winning, BUT if I find a more creative poem by someone NOT on my favorites list, it WILL win against one by a favorite whose style I have recognized. If I accidentally see a favorite's name on a poem, their entry will be judged and I will consider I have failed to recognize their style. Also, I have put most of my points into this, but I'll somehow get more points and eventually give them to the favorites whom I have recognized, as a thank you for accepting my invitation AND for having such a powerful, personal voice. However, I will be as objective as poetry gets, this I promise.
Also, if I like your entry enough and don't know you, you might get on my favorites list, not that it is such a great place to be
Note to my non-invitee favorites:
I love your poetry. But this contest is just focused on people who I think I have a better chance of recognizing. So please do not feel offended - in fact, I'd be delighted to see you enter
Thank you everyone. I will be sending invites now, just in case. Hope to get many entries and have fun everybody
Update: a note just so as not to offend anyone... I've been thinking and since someone else also suggested it, I am going to delete the invitees off my favorites just for as long as the contest is up. Just to make it easier not to see who the authors are. Thanks for your understanding
Update 2 because my computer is acting up and I can't send a note: This contest is subject to extension of deadline until I have at least one or two more of the "subjects" enter, and/or until I'm positive about the trophies. Jeez people I've never found it THIS hard to judge a contest
I love so many of the entries.

I love so many of the entries.Contest is Over
- Contest was judged on January 31, 2008
- Rewards: Gold: 1350, Silver: 1200, Bronze: 1000
- Final notes: This has been incredibly hard to judge. My experiment turned out incredibly well, even though only two of my invitees have entered (and I recognized both their styles). Someone whose style I thought I wouldn't recognized has entered and I recognized her style. And I have got a whole lot of enjoyable entries. So...
thank you everyone very much.
