Hi! This is a contest. Welcome.
There's a few options, if you're interested.
1. Something that gives you hope that shouldn't. Don't flat out tell me, though. Describe what it is, and why. Something unique to you, that you would feel like no one else would understand -- but make me understand through imagery and emotion.
2. A strange kind of love, a strange kind of relationship. Something silly, something that makes you angry, or something that makes you raise your eyebrow and ponder life.
3. Take constellations, the zodiac (including a member of the zodiac), magazines, laptops, or any other single thing you could think of, and use it as a metaphor for something more meaningful. Just one concept, though, folks. Not a chair in one stanza and a bird in the next, unless of course the bird is sitting on the chair and the two together form some concept.
Some things to keep in mind:
I'd like you to add the number of the option to your author notes or something like that.
In anything you do, focus on imagery and word choice. They're key to good poetry.
No blood with cutting and suicide. A bloody razor is not a good metaphor for your pain.
No chat lingo, and please use proper grammar.
Prewrites are perfectly acceptable, as long as they meet the requirements of my contest!
Last of all, have fun! This contest is pretty short, so get in while you can.

Contest is Over
- Contest was judged on January 2, 2008
- Rewards: Gold: 450, Silver: 150, Bronze: 50
- Final notes: Hey again! Thanks to all 7 of you for entering! This was a short contest with some weird options, so I'm not surprised there were only 7 of you. I hope you all know that your poems were each very good -- I liked all of them. Just remember that your opinion of your poem is way more important than mine or anyone else's, but also know that I really appreciate you sharing little bits of your minds with me. That's all!
