Okay, stones are both beautiful, useful to human needs, and have incredible energies for many of us. I want a poem on the essence of any stone of your choosing, be it about the energies (likely favored), physical appearence, practical use, or anything else on this topic that you can think of. I'm putting good points into this, so make them good. This contest is inspired by Amunet Wolfbane.
Here's some ideas.
1. Write about your favorite type of stone, it's essence or a particular experience working with it that meant something to you.
2. Write about a rock in nature that stands out to you.
3. Write about the formation of a rock?
4. Write about how stone has helped humanity or general life.
5. Here's some of my favorites that you could write about. They are lovely and hold much potential for description.
Strawberry Quartz
Sugilite
Larimar
Moldivite
Selenite
Aqua Aura
If I keep going, I'm definitely gonna get carried away, so explore, get creative, and send me some beautiful poems! Oh, sorry-no prewrites. Thanks you guys, have a lovely day! -Jill
Note: Contest is being extended due to lack of entries. I'd like a few more if I'm putting up the points

Contest is Over
- Contest was judged on January 16, 2008
- Rewards: Gold: 400, Silver: 200, Bronze: 100
- Final notes: WOW, I was deffinitely impressed by this one.
Thank you all for entering, I really appreciated reading all of your poetry and learned a lot in doing so.
"Released to Flow {Rispetto}" won gold because it was extremely beautiful and impressive, as well as the fact that it stayed closely on topic to the theme of the contest. Thank you for going into the energetic aspect, and beautiful work!
I had a really difficult time choosing between "Apache Tears" and "My Diamond", as they were both incredible both in flow/structure/etc. but in story as well. I chose Apache Tears because of the lore/history aspect of the stone, giving a better view on the stone's "personality". Very well done to both of you!
Thank you for sharing all of your beautiful writes, good luck, and keep writing!
Always,
-J
