This is a very simple little contest.
I want you to tell me what you think is meant by "Free Verse"
BUT
I want you to write it in free verse!!!
Rules
This is free verse so there are no rules.
I will judge it by my own gut feeling and not by any poetical rules other than your own poem must be consistent with your own definition.
Please have fun and educate me in fee verse.

Contest is Over
- Contest was judged on January 5
- Rewards: Gold: 300, Silver: 100, Bronze: 50
- Final notes: The contest is over and the judging is done. I have read some interesting verses and, although I am still unsure if free verse is poetry or a seperate (but equally valid) medium, I have seen and heard other peoples views.
Gold ----- The Muse's Wilderness
An excelent poem and contained a great description encapsulated in the 2 lines.
It is a journey were there are no rules,
Only (that) the desires burning within.
Silver ----- Freedom
Another great poem that does what it says and is what it describes.
Bronze ----- Ahem..it is still poetry!
Another good piece of writing which, despite its contradictory strictures against rhyme, is still a good description of a poet and their reason for writing in this fashion.

Thanks to all of you who entered and gave me so much to think about. Including the question I posed one contributor....
"Is what I have just written free verse?"
