Sue Cardwell and I (I am Cricketjeff) are partners in rhyme, and we are both rhymers!
We both write in rhyme most of the time and enjoy reading other rhyming poetry.
We feel that rhymers don’t always get the exposure they should on AP so we want to encourage you all to write in rhyme.
Good rhyming poetry uses a steady rhyming pattern and most flow like rainwater on spring flowers, so we want that to, not just a words that sound about the
To this end, Sue has put up 10,000 points for a series of contests to find the best rhyming poets on AP.
We started with a 2000 point challenge to write the best Christmas poem on the site, and are move through 8 more contests to a grand finale, with another 2000 point contest.
You may enter as few or as many contests as you wish.
If you can RHYME and SCAN these contests are for you
Contest 1 Christmas 2000 points
Contest 2 Children’s 1000 points
Contest 3 Nature 1000 points
Contest 4 Love! 1250 points
Contest 5 Fantasy 1250 points
============================
Contest 6 Sensual 1250 points
Contest 7 Humour 1250 points
Contest 8 Sad/Nostalgia 1250 points
Contest 9 Feelings 1250
GRAND FINALE 2000 points
Each will be a separate contest, so please only post poems pertaining to the subject of that contest.
We will endeavour to interpret the themes quite widely.
Our aim is to see as much really GOOD rhyming poetry as we can.
We encourage you to read all other entries and if you comment in rhyme, Jeff will be giving away bonus prizes as we go!
Rhyming poetry only!!!
===============
A large element of how we judge each round will be on the quality of the rhyme, the flow and the poetry. You are much more likely to win with a well written poem that skirts the topic, than a piece of prose with line breaks that is right on the theme.
We have had additional points contributed by Passions Promise and others who wish to remain anonymous.

CONTEST NUMBER 5
==================
The theme this time is
FANTASY
===========
You may use the picture provided or one of your own if you wish but no picture is necessary.
Fantasy is a very wide topic, obviously for many people here it means fantasy adventure games, but we will not be restricting you to that. As a man who numbers blue dragons and Father Christmas amongst his personal friends, not to mention a recent tendency to write about Snaggleduffs, I will be looking for some varied interpretations. Sue too is keen on dragons and faeries in poetry. Arthur and his knights always make fine subjects, Robin Hood, Star Wars take us where you will, just keep your rhyming perfect and your flow smoother than Devon cream pouring over Christmas pudding (fantasy food... another way you could go, maybe sharing it with your fantasy man/lady).
We love to see all forms of rhyming poetry, but the flow and the rhyme matter more to us than sticking to an exact formula. Come up with something new if you like, fantasy should suit that.
Gold will win 750 points and a trophy and everlasting universe wide fame
Silver 300 points and a trophy and lifelong fame in this galaxy
Bronze 200 points and a trophy and world wide fame for years
HM’s will be added depending on the quality of the entry and will each be well thought of around here for weeks.
Rules.
The usual site rules apply.
Please label all poems appropriately. Some adult content is common in fantasy poems but we have sensual coming up for those who like things HOT.
All the best -- Now Get Rhyming
If we get over 50 entries we will restrict all poets to a Maximum of TWO entries so we have some chance of reading them all, we will not give more than one major prize to any poet in any round.
Non-rhyming poetry will be DQ'd at once, good poets can read!
We have had very generous points donations from PassionsPromise and others who wish to remain anonymous but want to get more rhyme out there!
For a guide on what we like please read this column

Contest is Over
- Contest was judged on January 3, 2008
- Rewards: Gold: 750, Silver: 300, Bronze: 200, Honorable mention: 9 people
- Final notes: This was an excelling round. Over 60 entries and a very high standard. Many of those who didn't make the final would be expected to pick up cups in other contests.
In order to make the judging possible we have been quite harsh on some technical aspects that neither of us like, we will try to comment individually on those points on each entry that applies to.
In general it seems you are starting to learn what we like, noticeably less "half or slant rhyme" and some really lovely lyrical flow.
Although the standard was very high we found we had agreed on the order of the top eight finallists, we have never got that far down before so the top eight are in order and the HMs amongst those will receive points boosts so that 4th gets a total of 150, 5th 125, 6th 100, 7th 75 and eighth 50. There are an additional 4 undifferentiated HMs The rest of the finallists are not in order If you made it to the final you have written a poem that we each wanted to read more than once and enjoyed thoroughly.
The three major prizewinners are all very different, which was good to see.
The Sensual round is well under way for those of you who would like to write us something hot and I shall be starting the next, humour, round later this evening, please check my page or the contests list for details.
We have now decided most of the details for the Grand Finale, it will be for fresh writes only, written to any of the 9 prompts already, or a couple of others that we think we should have had. Total prize money will be at least 5000 points!
Thanks for all the entries in this round and keep entering the later ones please.
Jeff and Sue

Great contest. I'm not sure I'll get something in for this one, but we'll see. Best of luck to everyone

Only half way through the series, sensual is running already and there are three more and a grand finale after that. We'd love to see an entry in any or all of them.
