Favorite Christmas and New Year's Memories

Greetings, fellow poets! I just won gold in a contest that was run by my AP sister, onesugar (I am still shocked that I won; thanks, sis), so I am paying it forward. To give you an idea, here is a brief story.

For decades, my parents & I would visit our relatives for the holidays; but for the 3rd holiday in the last 4 years, we will not be making the trip to see them. I will spend Xmas and New Year's here at home with my folks. I am very disappointed about this. Some of my favorite memories involve my folks & my relatives together because those were the days when we were one happy family. Although I still have my folks, I feel an emptiness because my extended family is not being included.

This brings me to the contest. What are your favorite Christmas & New Year's memories? Any kind of poetry is fine, from Haikus to free verse to rhymes, just as long as it's clean (which means no swearing or sexually charged words). This contest will be co-judged by my AP daughter, Warrior-Eagle, & my AP sister, onesugar.

Contest is Over

  • Contest was judged on December 28, 2007
  • Rewards: Gold: 300, Silver: 75, Bronze: 50, Honorable mention: 25 people
  • Final notes:
Well, unfortunately, all good things must come to an end; this contest included. I want to thank everyone who participated. I also want to thank my AP sister, onesugar, & my AP daughter, Warrior-Eagle, for helping me judge the contest. Now I know what the other poets go through when they have to pick a winner because this truly was difficult to pick a winner. In my eyes, all the poets go home a winner because they come away with a trophy. Excellent job, everyone. Keep up the good work.
