"Shadow am I!
like a suspicion that's never confirmed
but it's never denied!
Wolf am I! no-
'Shadow' I think is better,
as I'm not something.
More like the absence of something!
So shadow am I!
The whole material world seems to me like a newspaper headline -
it's explicitly demands your attention
and it may even contain some truth-
But what's really going on here?
One day the water's gonna wash it away!
And on that day, nothing clever to say.
One day, nothing else to say."
Prompt:
"Shadow am I!" What does that mean to you?
Relate to it. Deny it. Tell somebody else they are a "shadow". Approach the prompt as you feel fit.
Rules:
Just give me art.
(I'm giving you an open canvas.)
Judging:
Closing time @ 7PM Mountain Time tonite
Final @ 9PM
Extra Info:
I'm not a tough judge. I do, though, have my own opinion of what makes a poem enjoyable. If I don't like your piece, I will give you a detailed reason why.
Keep in mind there are only 10 spots. I'm looking for confident, quality pieces. Once filled, I may cut pieces through out the day. If I do, I will give a detailed reason as to why.
Bonus points to the first writer who can give the complete name of the album these lyrics are from.
It will be worth your time.
:EDIT:
An entrant has IM me the full title.
This song, "Wolf am I! (And Shadow)", is the third track on Brother(Sun), Sister(Moon) by mewithoutYou.
Here's a hint if you're stuck on the prompt:
The writer does not have a depressed view on his state.
Go forth and seek your souls; stare deep and stare hard.

Contest is Over
- Contest was judged on December 20, 2007
- Rewards: Gold: 410, Silver: 270, Bronze: 70, Honorable mention: 2 people
- Final notes: I would need to appologize for taking so long to judge a quickie. I also regret not commenting on all entries before I judged.
But I felt in the best interests of everyone involved that I close this now, as I'm not sure when I'll have enough time later.
Thank you all for responding to this line I've found. I was intregued that no one took the Christian intrepretation, nor used the entire quote as inspiration. It truely does read differently when put in context of, "One day the water's gonna wash it away!" That was my error though. The prompt said only "Shadow am I!".
Again, thanks. Congrats to winners.
And if I didn't critque your entry (or if I did and you'd like to talk about it), please IM whenever letting me know you'd like me to.
With that, adios.
Go forth and seek your souls; stare deep and stare hard.
