Street Musicians
I recently sold this pastel drawing which had been with me a long time
and I miss it. So, in a memorial I'm offering this contest. Interpret it as
you see fit as long as the'feel' for the piece remains true.
In context, it was part of a series I did in the 80's called 'Mean Streets',
which focused on some of the seedier aspects of urban street life.
It's a large pastel about 30x40 done on textured board.
Gold 500 points
Silver 300 points
Bronze 200 points
Any form accepted
Rhyme is fine if handled creatively
I will make some independent point awards for runners up...(hate those green thingys)
Have fun
and Happy Holidays!

great painting !!
my origins are NYC, with its mean streets
filled with street musicians and
the light and dark woven text of its inhabitants
....I always loved walking about hearing music coming from doorways and alleyways and subways etc.
so this feels familial. -
i really like the look of this contest. There's only two poems submited at the moment but they were both damn good! I think your picture brings something good out in people. I suppose it's the way you have painted something artistic in itself. Its like a double dose of inspiration?
