Contest is Over

  • Contest was judged on December 11, 2007
  • Rewards: Gold: 1250, Honorable mention: 3 people
  • Final notes:
First off......I apologise for a late Judging ~

Two of your Judges are down with fever & flu, and one of those Judges is me ~

As you have all noticed, Zach, aka, Rosewood Angel, your other Judge, was not able to participate this week, as we thought it was best for him to stay in bed and get better ~

    Get well Zach!!!!!!!

    ...missed ya Dude!

OK....Let's congratulate your Gold Winner, *Cupcrazy for penning the Poem of the Week for the 2nd weeek of December, 2007!

Out of a possible 300 points, she earned 297.8 of them........but the thing that most impresses me, is that this Poet has been entering over and over again, trying to pen the best poem.......and look what happened!

This is what can happen if you keep trying, and if you take your Quill seriously ~

My hat's off to you Cup!

I want to thank a few Poets who kept *Sportsmanship* in the name, *Challenge*

islekine.....Jim......Pink.....Dawn.....and I think there is another.....but please forgive me if I have forgotten who you are at this moment ~

The most Creative entry goes to: Someone Stop the Madness

The most Heartfelt entry goes to: A Living Death

The most Inventive entry goes to: drapes of morning

Your Silver Winner earned 297.15....Very close to that Gold!

Your Bronze Winner earned 295.45 ~

The HM's ARE in order ~

    HM 1 295.05
    HM 2 294.8
    HM 3 292.7

.....and just because you did not receive a Trophy, does not mean you lost.....as you are all Winners in our eyes, and we are very pleased with each of your entries ~

This POW contest held such a variety of Themes which have not been brought forth in any of the PO' contests....Way ta go!

Alrighty now.......we only have ( 1 ) more POW contest before the POY contest arrives in your laps ~

I suggest you get your thinking caps on and get ready for your hardest challenge this year ~

An incredible amount of points, a ( 6 ) month Gold Memebrship, or credit to your exisitng account, and the Award of Poet of the Year will be yours, if...you bring your best and show off your talents like never before ~

The space limitation for this POY contest will be unlimited.....therefore, you are going to be penning against a wiiiide group of Poets and talent ~

Come into the POY contest with an open mind and a full Inkwell, as it will take both to win ~

I want to take just a moment to thank your other Judges, Julie and E'lodie for not giving up on me this week as I tried to stay off the PC and in bed to recover from this Flu which seems to have a grip on southern CA ~

    Arrggg!

Julie.....thank you for your love of Poetry, your support and your faithfulness in Judging over the past 5 months.......you are a Gem, and I thank God for you ~

'Lodie....thank you for stepping up to the plate when the PO' contests needed someone with your exact talents and knowledge of the written language......God has blessed Julie, Zach, all fellow Poets who continue to enter and me, with your presence ~

Wow.....what a journey we have all been on.....we do hope to see every one of you back in the game this next weekend, as we prepare for the end of the year ~

Just a reminder, http://www.DestinationPoetry.com will be having its' Grand Global Opening soon, and I hope to see each of you over in our neighborhood to check us out!

    Until then, remember,

...May Your Higher Power & the Power of Your Quill, Always Be Your Strength ~

    May God bless you all,

    Bear ~

Wow! There were so many original themes this week, making for a wonderful contest to read and judge. With the holiday season being such a busy time of year it’s great to see it hasn’t slowed any of your pens down, and has even inspired some very thought provoking and timely writes.

I thank you all for once again making this a rewarding and enjoyable experience for me. Congratulations to our winners, and I hope to see you all again soon! (smiles)

    Best wishes to all,
    ~Julie

    Final Notes~

As always, it has been a pleasure to read and comment on your pieces. There were lots of great, interesting themes in this contest, some of them really quite unique. With each contest you people amaze me with your talents! We couldn't continue this series without poets who are willing to take time and effort to write and stress and submit poems to our (admittedly frank) judgment.

I would also like to take a moment to compliment many of you on your humility and willingness to learn. Those of you who take our comments seriously and thoughtfully, not necessarily blindly following them, but learning from another perspective, are a model to us all! I know I've learned from many of you in your ability to take criticism and use it, instead of getting offended and defensive. It's what makes these contests a joy for me.

Also, we saw some great sportsmanship from many of you! You know who you are, and I want you to know that we do too. Well done!

I'm looking forward to finding out who the winners are! So many of you have really outdone yourselves the winners will have really worked for it!

    ~Élodie

P.S. In the hustle and bustle of judging, I know there some poems on which I left comments saying there were grammar errors, but never clarified what they were. If any of you would like to know specifically what those grammar errors are, and/or why they are errors, please message me! I'd be happy to help.

Ok my computer is majorly screwing up. It let me submit the poem, but won't let me change the background. It's the grey. Can I leave it at that? Or wait until a friend can get on my account and change it for me?
