Contemplations: The Airport Wait

There is no longer wait than that of an airplane behind schedule.

Are you waiting to pick someone up?

Are you waiting to board?

Are you on the plane while they de-ice the wings?

Have you and a certain senator played footsie beneath the stall?

Place us at the airport with you. Tell us what you are thinking of the comings and goings of yourself, your loved one or the completely random guy digging his ear potato in the seat next to you.

Gill and I appreciate strong, image rich pieces.

We both appreciate a brevity of language

and a limited use of adjectives.

Please no end line rhyme.

Please left align.

You have 2 full weeks to complete your poem. Please do not rush to post.

Thanks so much,

Mary and Gill

Given my current circumstances, I spend a lot of time in airports waiting. I should be able to transfer that to paper.

lol -- I just returned from back-to-back trips to NYC and Denver. I actually started composing a poem based on an observation I made Saturday at SFO. I was too tired to complete the piece on the plane, but it actually is in progress. Time permitting, I will try to finish it just for this contest (though, as always, no promises). Certainly, THIS is a subject I can relate to --- LOL -- though because of all my FF miles, I don't wait in too many lines anymore. United Premier 1K membership has a lot of advantages, including being permitted to go throught the First Class line for both check-in and security.

    Thanks for this contest

I have to say that airport waits are one of the hazards of my job. My entry was a long way from being the first poem I've written on this subject and I'm sure it won't be the last but I know for certain that this one would not have been written if not for you. Thank you both.
