Hello Talented Poets!
You have just touched on our first Rounds Contest.
I am hosting this contest with Pamela A Lamppa. If you have read either of us you know how differently we write so you can imagine how diverse this contest is going to be. But, it should prove to be a whole lot of fun.
It is all about the poetry. There will be NO GREEN TROPHIES. Only Gold, Silver and Bronze will be awarded in each round. Rounds will be for big points, and along the way there may be some bonus points, but of course, there will be eliminations. The following outlines our rounds so you know what you will be heading into. Our goal is to go seven rounds with the last round being only three poets.
Round 1 = will be a free write to a specific topic.
Round 2 = will be written to a prompt asking for specific use of a poetic form and a specific poetic device.
Round 3 = will be image inspired asking for specific use of selected poetic device.
Round 4 = will be a free verse poem written to a specific prompt using a specific poetic device.
Round 5 = will be written to a provided topic using a specific poetic form and a specific poetic device.
Round 6 = will be a free verse inspired by an image.
Round 7 = will be a free write to a specific prompt.
That's pretty much the run down. The only things you don't know are what the prompts, forms, and required poetic devices will be, but that's half the fun.
Now we know what a busy time of year this is, so we will allot plenty of time for each round and we will do our very best to give good critiques on your pieces and judge each round in a timely manner. (provided we can agree)
We believe in proper grammar, punctuation, and spelling. These will be required in all rounds.
If you've gotten this far, welcome aboard! We look forward to some wonderful poetry!
Ken and Pam

Oh yes I just adore form

Though I have dabbled with a few but not near enough to be called even decent

Ah well, I'll skip.
I can't write free verse that pleases me, but then again either can anyone else. -
putting my thinking cap on... hope to come up with something.

To say this write means alot to me is probably an understatement. I received the artwork via email the same day I wanted to sit and write for this theme still unsure of what I wished to express.
Stephanie is my most favorite artist and the meanings behind this card illuminated all that was inside me at the time. I am so thrilled to see it received this way. Beyond thrilled...really;
thank-you both so very much for this recognition and let's hope in round two I'm able to find such personal inspiration to write from.
Congrats to the others who move forward from here. I've read several entries and know there was much talent entered. Best to all. Blue -
