Hello all!
I'm a big fan of J. K. Rowling (the author of the Harry Potter books), and I've decided to host a contest where your prompt(s) will be her words. To the ones that are sick of the whole HP mania - don't worry, you don't need to have read the books or watched the films to enter this contest.
There are two prompts in this contest, and you can choose to be inspired by one or both of them. The first prompt is a quote from an interview:
"It is not about striving for immortality, but about accepting mortality"
- J. K. Rowling
The other prompt is a line taken from the 7th Harry Potter Book (Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows):
“The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death”
- J. K. Rowling
I'm in love with both of the quotes, so I'm asking you to do them justice.
Rules:
- Please put the prompt(s) in your author notes, and credit J. K. Rowling.
- If you enter more than once, please put the title of your other entries in your author notes.
- No dirty pretty
- No sticky caps or chat speak
- No prose (Only if short and to the point – I don’t want long book chapters)
- No bashing of other poets and their work.
- Don't get angry with me, if you don't like my comments.
- Try to comment on the other entries.
- Try to stay anonymous – I like it that way.
I'm not allowing prewritten poetry, since you're supposed to be inspired by the prompt.
If you have any questions, send me a message.
I will try to comment on all entries, but I will not applaud any.

Contest is Over
- Contest was judged on December 28, 2007
- Rewards: Gold: 300, Silver: 150
- Final notes: Hello all! I want to thank all of you for entering this contest. I was a little disappointed by the lack of entries, since I myself would love to write from those quotes. Never the less, I found a winner, and I guess that's what it's about. Congratulations to the winners - your poetry were amazing.
