I'M EXTENDING THIS CONTEST UNTIL THE 21ST AS I AM BEING LAID OFF THE HOLIDAYS AND WILL HAVE MORE TIME TO DEAL WITH IT THEN.
This contest is for writers with the skill to write with perfect rhyme and meter. A good internal rhyme will put you ahead. If you don't know what we mean, don't enter. We want poetry that reminds one of Noyes (The Highwayman), Kipling (If), Service (The Cremation of Sam McGee) etc. If you can't do that, stay home.
We're starting out with 700 points for first, 500 for second and 300 for third, but will give more points if something grabs us.
Honourable Mentions as required. Use your imaginations people and please don't be rude.
Larry Tilander
who will be assisted in judging by Jim Dunlap (ecrivain01)

Contest is Over
- Contest was judged on December 22, 2007
- Rewards: Gold: 1000, Silver: 600, Bronze: 300, Honorable mention: 4 people
- Final notes: Thanks to all who entered this contest. It was Larry's idea, and so I'll quote him first:
I have Ezra Snow coming in at number 1,
being exactly what I was looking for when I started the contest. Two and three in my mind
are Neverland and Buyat Bay, but I can't decide which is which. Let's kick a hundred each to
When and Vacuum of Souls too. They are both good.
(I shall be sending the extra points to those final two authors soon.)
I added some points to first place and second.
I also added a couple of other Honorable Mentions. Congratulations to all those who placed and to all who entered since I think you all did a very credible job on this contest.
Thanks again and Happy Holidays.

Good Luck with this contest; It's a contest for thinkers too - to emulate these 3 men in particular would take talent as they all were top of the range poets in my estimation.
All 3 may be found on Oldpoety, literally hundreds of poems to choose from. The results will be interesting. Von - Oldpoetry -

I guess we're short on thinkers.
And even when we get one, a little criticism and they vanish. I can write like Service all day. Oh well.

Looks like I can only enter once!
I'll choose later which entry to leave there. -

Enter as
often as you wish. -
I fixed it so you can enter ...
as often as you like.

I really wish this was open longer, I've been working on a miserably long epic with the strictest (and quite bizarre) metrical and rhythmic impositions... perhaps I'll enter a prewrite (or two?) that suits your wants.
