I have a question. Can I write a literary essay on a poem? It would include a short biography of the poet and an analysis of the poem. Answer me quickly please. I'd love to enter this if I'm allowed to use such a formulation.

Sylvia Plath's Lady Lazarus. It would be awfully interesting to analyse in my opinion, and I think I could do that well.

    A Question

Can I do a comparison of two poems by different authors? I think this is the direction I want to take, if I can. The poems I want to compare (at the moment of this question) are: "The Raven" & "Childe Roland To The Dark Tower Came".

Yes I can think that would create some discussion and it's a great idea - look forward to reading your entry. Von

How long do you want the colum to be? would I be able to write about Emily Dickinson having Bipolar? That would sort of fall under several diffrent options.

    Anyways, I was just wondering.

I would like to enter, but since I stumbled onto this for the first time today, I would like to know if you are thinking of extending the deadline? Please let me know as I would really love to write something on Hafiz.

Apologies for the tardy replay, but unfortunately the contest has been closed. However essays are always welcomed to Oldpoetry if you are still interested in supplying it to us on its literary merits alone without the points reward.
      Sorry - Regards Von
