Take Me Back to the 20th Century Wars

Hello Contestants! 12/7/07
Just wanted to give a little heads up. I am reading though the poems to pick the winners and I just added 3 HM's, so now there will be 6 awards given.
I've already gone through the poems that I think deserve something. So by Saturday evening we will have winners, maybe even earlier.
Thank you for entering!

Take Me Back to the 20th Century Wars

**In honor of my grandfather and Uncle Walley who where in World War I, my other uncles who followed in other wars, and the rest of my family and friends who have served and are.**
....

I do not just mean wars that were USA connected, if you want to write about other wars. I will love that.

This is in celebration not of the wars, but of the people who fought in them.
I want to feel emotion and see depictions through your words. Let me feel that you honor the men and women who fought in them. Or that you honor yourself and your fellow soldiers.

Rules:
~Regular AP rules apply.
~I don't want to see bashing of the wars, I don't like any of the wars either, but I still honor the men and women who where in them.
~They can come from any point of view/perspective. You can speak as if you where that solider being in the war (even if you were or weren't).
~Just be respectful.
~Really looking for imagery, metaphors, what they went through, seeing the war(s) in my minds eye, and feeling it.
~I want newly written poem's, but pre-writtens are alright too.

I'll be adding points for HM's as soon as I can. And I will comment on all poem's, but probably not till the end.

Try your best!

I note that you are only interested in those wars in which the USA was involved! There were others, you know!

Those where the ones that came to mind. And I'm also just going with 20th century for now. I'm gonna go backwards in centuries. But I do know of others. I wasn't really picking from US ones either.

Yes, I too am referring to 20th century wars... What about, for example, the Boer War, the Spanish Civil War, the Israeli 6-Day and Yom Kippur Wars, the Falklands War, the various wars generated by the Russian Revolution to name but those few of them which had a long-term effect on the world situation as a whole?

Now this is an interesting concept.
Even though I don't think I'll be able to write for this contest, I'll stick around to see the results.

The poem I submitted may not be directly related with the theme yet it possesses a feeling that people involved in a war may get to experience.
I don't mean to win recognition at all. I simply wanted to share my poem with you.
Feel free to remove it if you consider it's out of place.
