Contest is Over
- Contest was judged on March 24, 2008
- Rewards: Gold: 300, Silver: 100, Bronze: 50
- Final notes: First and foremost, I must say how sorry I am that it took so long to judge this contest. I have had some personal issues come up that I did not expect. Secondly, what amazing talent was featured in this second round! I had to fight myself to pick ones not to go on, b/c these were all sooooooooo good! Thank you to everyone who entered; I realy appreciate your commitment.
FOR EVERYONE, please keep your poems in for a while b/c a) I'd like to comment on them, as I don't like to judge a contest without commenting, and If I don't get twelve entries in the next round, I will use the others as subs.
FOR THE FINALISTS, I will be posting the next round tomorrow. Please get your poetic juices flowing and ABSOLUTELY keep your poems in so I can see who I chose.
Thx to all for entering, and check back with my contests once life has slowed down.

When exactly is the last contest going to be judged. And I also wasn't sure if I could reserve a spot with a poem, so I did it anyway. I hope I won't be penalized for that. Sorry if you were supposed to approve before hand!
-
-
The last contest will be judged soon, and, no, if you made it into the finalists, you may post your poem now.
-
-
Is the contest pretty much canceled, or should i wait for you to view the newer poems?
-
-
Why would it be cancelled? I'm going to finalize the first round tonight if that's what you mean...?
-
-
the first contest isn't judged?, how can round two start?
-
-
Though the winners haven't been chosen, the finalists have. All of them can move on.
-
-
Good thing I am not on your finalists' list - since I find it almost impossible to interpret this picture. I think I can perceive the face of a lion - and the wings of a white bat (or is it a pterodactyl)... The blue and yellow (though it is gold rather than yellow!) together the lion would have probably evoked something from my beloved city of Lviv - but where could the batwing come in? - unless as a very subtle allusion to the century and a half when Lviv (as Lemberg) was under Austrian rule.
Seriously though, do remember that some of the greatest poets (including Homer and - in his later days - Milton) and thousands of the wandering bards of Europe, were blind...and pinning your assessment poetic talent to the ability to perceive some visual image is therefore a rather doubtful procedure!
I should have thought better of you...

Let me take this opportunity to remind everyone what the contest is about. It is entitled "Rule by the People." In the previous round, I stated that my last rounds contest did not do well b/c I gave them prompts that I liked--such as writing about your favourite movie. So I decided to do a contest that was all about what the PEOPLE wanted, which is what I'm doing: pic inspired, word bank, titles, etc.
I'm sorry if you find this a "doubtful procedure," but it is staying true to my theme of what the people want and I do not plan to deviate from that.
I'm sorry to have dissapointed you, but it's really not that big of a deal... -
Dude, you're a dipshit.
-
-
Just wondering how things were progressing with this contest, looking forward to round 3 (if I get through
)
-
-
Its coming. I appreciate your kind question, as I am getting some sassy comments from people, but my brother is in the hospital right now, so my free time is basically taken up. So yes, I will be trying to judge soon.
-
-
I keep giving you the benefit of the doubt...
-
I hate to complain here, but I received a rather nasty message from you about my "responsibility" to enter into your contest on time...now the contest has been closed for a week, and I haven't heard a thing. Just wondering where everything stands.
-
-
First of all, the message was generalised and it was indeed your responsibility to enter. I thank you for entering and it will be judged tonight. The circumstances of my life need not be your burden, so I shan't waste your time, but your patience is appreciated with all that's going on right now.

swore I entered...

oh well...go figure
