I held one of these a little while ago and it was great.
Start with the words "Have you ever"
Keep it under fifty (50) words
and end in a question mark.
Simple example:
Truth Is Hard To Find
Have you ever noticed
the way the stars
make your eyes sparkle
when you're lying?
- Friday
(Though I expect the entries to be better than that)
That's it.
But there are (relatively) a lot of points up for grabs so don't give me crap.
Enter as many times as you'd like
(but if I read more than three of yours and they're all shit, I'll DQ all of them, so be warned).
If you'd like an honest opinion rather than a load of fluff let me know in your authors notes.
Hint: Imagery and metaphor will get you places.
Hint #2: I refuse to highlight your piece to read it.
Hint #3: Using "Have you ever" as the title is unimaginative.
Note: I am using MS Word for the word count.
Note #2: The finalists will change over the course of the contest. These are just poems that have caught my eye but are not necessarily the winners.
If I do not find pieces worthy of the amount of points I am giving I will delete the contest. I mean it when I say your best. Be profound, be unique, be awe-inspiring.
Play nice.
Go.
