I recently won silver in the contest held by Anaisnais to help Tender Wolf through her illness and as part of that winners were asked to put some of their points back into AllPoetry for the use of other poets.

There are some songs that have really touched my heart so I thought I would ask for some beautiful poems inspired by either the lyrics or the titles of the following songs:-
In My Next Life by Merle Haggard and also Lee Kernaghan
Time in a Bottle by Jim Croce
What a Wonderful World by Louis Armstrong
I Don't Wanna Miss A Thing by Aerosmith
Poster Girl(on the wrong side of the world) by Beccy Cole
Easy Silence by The Dixie Chicks
Patience by Guns n Roses
Beautiful To Me by Little Birdy
When You Say Nothing At All by Ronan Keating
In The Arms of The Angels by Sarah McLaughlin
Constant Craving by k.d. Lang
He Ain't Heavy He's My Brother by The Hollies
The Air That I Breathe by The Hollies
Live Like You Were Dying by Tim McGraw
Truly, Madly, Deeply by Savage Garden
Seven Spanish Angels by Willie Nelson and Ray Charles
Follow Me by Uncle Kracker
Let Her Cry by Hootie and the Blowfish
Sometimes When We Touch by Dan Hill
Dear Mr. President by Pink
It was pointed out to me that there are really no happy songs in my options so I am adding some...at least I hope you think they're happy songs.
Always Look On The Bright Side Of Life by The Monty Python Team
On The Cover Of The Rolling Stone by Dr. Hook
It's Five O'clock Somewhere by Jimmy Buffett
My Favourite Things from The Sound Of Music
Yellow Submarine by The Beatles
Rock This Party by Bob Sinclair
Lord, It's Hard To Be Humble by Mac Davis
Some of these songs are by Australian performers so if you need to know anything about the lyrics or singers please IM me.
Not too many rules, just the basic ones
1. Mark content appropriately
2. No sticky caps or hard to read backgrounds and
fonts
3. Be nice to the people in my contest
4. I do not want to read anything about suicide
cutting or dark topics
I will not be commenting on any entries until the contest is closed but I will comment on everyone then.
Please enjoy yourselves and give me some wonderful poems to read
I reserve the right to DQ any entry which I find offensive
I almost forgot...if the song title is not the title of your poem please put it in Author notes
Contest is Over
- Contest was judged on November 18, 2007
- Rewards: Gold: 1000, Silver: 500, Bronze: 250, Honorable mention: 10 people
- Final notes: Thank you to everyone for your wonderful entries. I know everyone says it but this was very hard to judge. The winner of the Gold just stood out from the others and grabbed my attention from the first read. My choice for silver was difficult but the beautiful words of the poem did such justice to the song that my choice was made for me. Bronze also took a lot of thought and re-reading of entries but the content of the poem touched me in a very special way. You all presented some beautiful words for me to read; words that were sometimes thought provoking and I thank you again for your time and efforts in entering my contest. Take care and keep the wonderful words flowing. Margaret

I love listening to Little Birdy, have seen her twice now and Beccy Cole's song about entertaining the troops is so good. If you listen to the Lee Kernaghan version of In My Next Life it sends shivers through you especially when he speaks the words. I look forward to seeing what you write.

I love the song Seven Spanish Angels
and death in it is as sad as I feel -
-
I don't want you to be sad darlin'
Even though the song is sad they shared such a love that she wanted to be with him for eternity.
Cheer up and write me a poem...please
