I have just finished watching "grave of the fireflies" and I thought it was the saddest movie I had ever seen in my entire life. Then I thought back to the other Miyazaki films I had seen (although fireflies isn't technically his), and I decided to hold a contest paying tribute to the films of Japan's greatest animator, Hayao Miyazaki. If you haven't heard of him, go rent one of the movies below. It will blow your mind!!
So basically the contest is to pen a poem based on one of Miyazaki's works, which include ones he directed, wrote, or simply just produced.
~The Castle of Cagliostro
~Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind
~Laputa/Castle in the Sky
~My Neighbor Totoro
~Kiki's Delivery Service
~Porco Rosso
~Princess Mononoke
~Spirited Away
~Howl's Moving Castle (my personal favorite. Do I smell brownie points?)
~Whisper of the Heart
~Grave of the Fireflies
~Only Yesterday
~Pom Poko
~Panda! Go Panda!
~The Cat Returns
And if I forgot some (which I probably did), those are okay too!
Prizes:
1st Place: Gold trophy and 400 points
2nd Place: Silver trophy and 150 points
3rd Place: Bronze trophy and 75 points
Honorable Mentions may be added later depending on the number of entries.
Now its time for..

The dreaded codes of conduct
1. Put the movie you chose in your authors notes for reference.
2. No AIM speak or TaLkInG lIkE ThIs L0L!!
3. Keep cursing to a minimum. I don't have a problem with it, but I want this to be family oriented.
4. No religious crap.
5. No dissing Miyazaki in any way shape or form. not even leaving a comment on this comment page.
6. No dissing anime in general(I've seen you guys out there)
7. Seven's a lucky number
Disobeying any of these rules will get you DQ'ed from the contest (or complained a lot by me!)

- Final notes: Thank you for the entries. I figured I wasn't going to get that many, so I wasn't too disappointed.
