I'm trying to write another one-act play for my drama class this year. Last year, I did a poetry contest to help get inspiration, and it worked WONDERFULLY! So I'm going about that route again.
This year, I want it on secrets.
THERE ARE NO RULES FOR THIS CONTEST!
I want you guys to go crazy with it!
Enter as many as you want.
Cuss, cry, let it all out.
ONLY THING: BE YOU! Be real, and show me through your poetry what the world doesnt get to see and maybe even why.
Here are some of my secrets:
I still write my mom letters; and even if I did have the address, I'm not sure I'd send them.
I'm convinced that someone is in my room, every night.
I narrate my life in my head.
I dont want to just exist.
I think I'm going to die young.
I tell people I hate flowers. The truth is; I wish someone would buy me daisies.
I need to stop worrying about the tomorrow's in my life.
The reason I picked up the phone that night is because I wanted someone to saved me.
Everyday, I feel like I'm running out of time.
The reason I keep the scars is so maybe I can give someone the same hope I was given.
I smile at strangers who frown, hoping it's affected their day.
If I could save one life, everything would be worth it.
If you want more inspiration for yourself
go to postsecret.com
Maybe it'll help.
Here are some ideas for your writing:
1. Observations. Your secrets and how it affects your outlook.
2. Your secret in general; what is it? why is it a secret?
3. Realization about a secret.
4. Confession.
5. Why can't we just be us? Why is it that the world has a say in what we're allowed to be and what we're allowed to show the world?
ANYTHING!
ALL I ASK IS:
please inspire me.
I'm not sure exactly where I want
this play to go but I know I want it to
touch people and make them think
[because that's how I do].
EVEN IF YOU THINK THAT IT WON'T BE INSPIRING,
ENTER IT.
It always feels good to let it out.
There are 2 kinds of secrets; those we keep
from others, and those we hide from ourselves.-Frank Warren
Thank you. :]
