Bullingen 4Km ~ war image contest

After watching Ken Burns PBS series on World War II, I was inspired to post

a contest honoring the serviceman who served on all sides in that conflict.

The photo was taken during the Battle of The Bulge in December 1944.

I won't tell you the nationality of the dead soldiers. It doesn't matter.

I do not want patriotic poetry.

I want real poetry, about real war.

I want to be in it, not looking at it.

Look at the picture.

Make me feel it.

There were some very strong poems here and although i don't usually award HMs in this case I wish I had.
Four poems stood out and it has taken me awhile to decide on a hierarchy that is almost interchangeable.

But a decision had to be made and here it is.

    Silver..At war in Winter, RuthKephart
    Bronze..Radio Silence, ea
    unofficial HM
    and 150 points..Fallen, EstherG

I ought to be inspired by this somehow, simply because the battle of the bulge was fought almost only a stone's throw from my hometown and Bastogne is a place oft visited [the cemetary]. If time and Muse allows , I will be back...in the meantime , may this be a succesful contest for you,
