Show me the beauty of something small,
something everyday,
but when looked at in a different light,
takes on something entirely different.
Or maybe it's beautiful because it's never different,
but steadfast.
The moment between breaths,
combing your hair,
your walk home,
the change of the seasons,
the morning.
Show me what you are grateful for, what you might normally take for granted.
Show me why miracles are so rare, but sunrises are not.
Show me the beauty of the simple things, of the small things.
Show me beauty, daily in all the small.

no profanity or erotica

no prewrites, sorry. I want you to have to think about this.
I want you to use striking poetic devises. By that I mean make your ideas come alive in the way you put your words on paper. Not so much a block of text, because even the most beautiful words may be lost to the eye in just a block of text.
one entry per person.
I'm only allowing 20 entries. Sorry, but I suck at these contests, but I felt like I should do one anyway.
Good luck to you, and know that I will probably love all of your entries, but the one that wins is the one that I find has best described what I am looking for and what does it the most poetically.

Contest is Over
- Contest was judged on November 1, 2007
- Rewards: Gold: 300, Silver: 50, Bronze: 30, Honorable mention: 3 people
- Final notes: And so we come to our end. Thank you so much, all who entered. Your work was beautiful, and I am indebted to you for the inundation of beauty you provided.
Congratulations to the winners. Your work stands out because you were able to encapsulate the spirit of your subject, be it a moment, a smile, love, the pain of the moment after, etc. But what you did was take a moment so small and so overlooked normally and made it something absolutely paramount. You showed us all why it's the little moments that make up a life, and not just a couple big moments. Thank you very much.
For all of you who didn't win, it does not mean I did not appreciate your work. I thoroughly mean it when I say everything entered had beauty in it. They who won were those who best captured what they were talking about (that goes for the HMs as well, I just can't give out more than three trophies) who wrapped it best in poetry and metaphor and made the words come out with the most life. In other words, they won on technique, not on vision (though the visions were splendid!) I hope that can be agreed on as fair.
So thank you so much, and please don't leave the contest just because you didn't win. I would perhaps like to keep this as a sort of collection of beauty, that we may all return again here to talk and comment eachother and be reminded in word of the beauty that is in all things small, in all moments.
Thank you, and carpe diem.
Sieze the day in all the moments, in all the small.

Bookmarked. This concept is awesome.

well I'm glad you like it. I get so tired of all the normal contests that have no meaning, or are so agonizingly cliche. I seek to find beauty elsewhere, and I'm glad I'm not alone.
Have a nice day,
Nick
