    I contratulate you on running this. It amuses me to se that people want to exclude so-called "adult language" from competitions aimed allegedly at young poets. I myself and all my schoolmates knew all the usual "dirty" words (in English) - plus quite a few in German - by the time we were eight years old... True, we grew up during WWII - but I do not think that makes much difference (except possibly for the German ones!)

    The main thing our teachers were concerned about was that if we used them we did so properly.

    I remember once the headmaster saying at morning assembly that the person who had chalked a graffito in the bicycle shed saying that he (the headmaster) was a bastard, should note the fact that a) the word contained only one "R",( that his (the headmaster's) parents had in fact been married several years before he was born and that therefore
    (c) he would be obliged if the person responsible would obliterate the notice before next Friday when his (the headmaster's) mother would be visiting the school!
