Pay it Foward... FORGIVENESS

I am the Gold Winner of the PIF Contest by Butterfly Secrets, a very good contest.

I wanted to offer a contest with a few more points and a subject of interest to me

My father who was a very strict man, was quite good at forgiving. I ask him once, after he had forgiven Bob and I for almost burning his treasured garage down, how he was able to forgive us. He said, For one thing, he felt we had been whipped sufficiently. His second thought, was for his own blessings and failings.

My father was a very wise man.

I remember his life was full of wonderful deeds, combined with an assortment of almost unforgivable transgressions. Therefore, he forgave well because he knew clearly, he too would require forgiveness. Are some sins unforgivable, perhaps..?

I always looked at life and our final legacy as a balance scale. In the end, we wish there are many weights of well remembered gifts on one side, and a modest assortment of sins, that have all been forgiven on the other.

Write me words that inspire and convince me, that we are, shall, and will be, deserving of forgiveness. I too often, require forgiveness myself.

I leave it to you to find the path to make these words

Additionally, I want to offer...
"One more option" for those that still carry the weight of a past personel abuse.

I have sometimes written on the subject of abuse by request, which I have discovered is more prevalent than I knew. Writing of this may also be a form of a cure within, if you choose to use this venue to offer forgiveness for past harm to you. Do this only if you are ready to truly release this from your heart and past. I pray you find the words. Some thoughts well said, can set you free.

Do this, as the brilliant poets you have become, in the style and manner of your choice, with any reasonable length.

I have never DQ anyone, yet I ask...

Be kind to each other, be moderate in your choise of words, and assume the usual rules will apply.

I hope you will guide me and I too will learn, from from the power of your combined minds, in this poetic endeavor.

The Gold Winner will PIF

Inspire me... Please

Contest is Over

  • Contest was judged on October 14, 2007
  • Rewards: Gold: 300, Silver: 100, Bronze: 70, Honorable mention: 4 people
  • Final notes:
I want to thank all the writers that have created submitials for this theam.

I seldom ever run contest. I did this more for me than the contestants writing. From your thoughts though, I found many tears of healing for you. This is the blessing of making words.

While I am known to love the sound of beautiful words, my final judgements in this contest, were in some occasions baised upon the compelling nature of the verses themselves.

The best to all the writers, and Congradulations the winners of the little shinies.

I thank all of you, for entering my contest.

    Love Rick

i think that if you can not forgive yourself for your mistakes that how can you forgive someone else who is the same flesh and blood as you , we are all the same , human with mistakes and heartaches , troubles , sorrows and pain
