UPDATED....
PREWRITES NOW WELCOME!
IF I FEEL IT FITS THEN I WILL KEEP IT IN, IF NOT I WILL REMOVE.
Thanks to a wonderful angel named Tam, I am able to add more points to this contest. These entries have been so amazing, thanks to all of you.
My Grandfather passed away this morning.
He had been suffering from cancer that had taken his whole body and used each and every bit of it to make its home. I am not in the right mind set to really write a poem, (although I am surly going to try) my father has been going out to stay with him at my aunts house about 45 minutes from where we live and each time he comes home he has lost part of himself while watching his father in so much pain, unable to help only easing some of the pain with pills.
My father has been so strong though this. But I know he is so lost now that he doesn't even know which way to hold his head while he cries.
I need prayers, poems, love, I need help holding my fathers faith and hand through this and help getting him to stand again.
If you do not believe in God, than please do not enter, nor do I want to read any comments either from you. Not to be rude but I know in my heart that my family that has passed on is in Gods arms now.
Rules
Do I have to really apply rules, use your heart, write to my father, not to me, as I would like to print these out and hand them to my father as a book of faith.
Please write your name in Authors notes, you will be credited.
Sorry I do not have much points to give out, and I can not promise you any more, Thanks everybody and please understand that I wish to get fresh writes.
Any questions just message me.
My fathers name is Marvin
Grandpas name is Jim
he passed away this morning on 10/05/07
Contest is Over
- Contest was judged on October 16, 2007
- Rewards: Gold: 400, Silver: 100, Bronze: 50, Honorable mention: 1 people
- Final notes: And, as I reached to touch him,
he pushed my hand away.
And, though he could not speak,
his eyes did seem to say-
"Why do you mourn my passing?
Why do you feel such pain?
If dying were an ending,
wouldn't living be insane?
These words above have captured the tears of my father and his two brothers and his sister as well. These words have helped comfort my family through the funeral and days to come, thank you so very much.
Congrats to the winners and for all who entered such beautiful thoughtful poetry for my family during this time, from the deepest depths of my heart, thank you so very much.

God Bless you and comfort you in this time. I know exactly what you're going through. It's never easy to lose somone you love no matter how you prepare yourself for it, and seeing someone die slowly of cancer is wrenching. I know. I lost a good friend to stomach cancer. You put on a brave face, and try to raise their spirits when you are around them, but you weep silently alone. God is your comforter

The ancient Egyptians believed that as long as somone was remembered, they were never truly dead. That's how they coped with loss. they wrote letters to the dead, offered gifts to the dead, and visited them often in their graves, which the Egyptians comsidered the deceased's "house". I guess that's as good of a way as any to look at it. even though I'm Christian now, I still think the pagan Egyptians had a certain wisdom to them. they understood that there was more than just this world, and that humans are not just flesh and bone, but spirits within these bodies, and these spirits live on after death. Jesus said as much, too. That's why he gave us the assurance of the ressurection. So take hope. You will see your grandfather again, and on that day, the pain in your heart now will be totally fogotten in the joy you will feel at that homecoming. Believe it.
