I Found It! Have you?

I have been looking back over my poetry since I became a member... (almost exactly one year ago) and I noticed that I have quite a few poems that have to do with love. The problem I have is that each of those poems are all about unrequited love or heartbreak.

In the recent months I have found the most wonderful man! I moved away from family and friends to be with him. He makes me feel like everything else (other than my children) has paled in comparison to what I am living now. He loves me completely and takes the bad parts of me with equal fervor to the good. I never thought I could feel this way and had resigned myself to being alone or in relationships that would end up going nowhere. Now I see what so many people have seen before me but I cannot write about it. I'm not sure if I just have writer's block or if I truly cannot write about being happy.

On that note...

What I would like to see from you is a poem about being in love. Something that has a truly deep meaning. I really don't care if it is love for an object, a person, a place... it doesn't matter... I just want to feel the love you have for it.

RULES:

None.... Why give you rules when love tends to break them all anyway.

Contest is Over

  • Contest was judged on November 6, 2007
  • Rewards: Gold: 500, Silver: 250, Bronze: 150, Honorable mention: 10 people
  • Final notes:
I am aware that this took me a long time to judge but I really hope that it was worth the wait. I received some truly excellent entries and I decided that there needed to be a prize for all of my finalists. The honorable mentions are in no particular order as I felt that was too difficult to judge. Thank you to those of you who kept your entries in the contest despite the amount of time since it closed for judging.

Love and luck to all of you and thanks again for submitting and letting me read your excellent work!

    Beautifully put,

"Why give you rules when love tends to break them all anyway"

    How true that is.
But love breaks hearts, I know that too.
I can't write of good love, it hurts too much. Heartbreak's all thats in my soul at the moment. Love, yes, but love that's been chucked away by yours faithfully.

    Great idea for a contest.
    Good luck with your love

I am in the same situation. I had been heartbroken for about two years and had myself convinced I was meant to be alone... Until about five months ago, that is. I gave my friend a chance and it has proved to be the best decision I have ever made.

I have so many poems that I could enter into this contest. It was hard to choose just one.

I'm glad you found the love you sought. I hope all goes well with it
