Helping Raise Spirits of Our Soldiers!

Hello Everyone,

I was talking to a friend of mine, and she has 2 grand sons and 1 son serving in the miltary. We were discussing soldier's spirits being low and what we could do to raise them. I was also inspired by the following song:

Artist: Tim McGraw
Album: Let it go
Title: If you're reading this

If you're reading this, My momma's sitting there
Looks like I only got a one-way Ticket over here
I sure wish I could give you one more kiss
And war was just a game we played when we were kids

Well I'm laying down my gun, I'm hanging up my boots
I'm up here with God and we're both watching over you

So lay me down
In that open field out on the edge of town
And know my soul
Is where my momma always prayed that it would go
If you're reading this I'm already home

If you're reading this half way around the world
I won't be there to see the birth of our little girl
I hope she looks like you, I hope she fights like me
And stands up for the innocent and the weak

Well I'm laying down my gun, I'm hanging up my boots
Tell dad I don't regret that I followed in his shoes

So lay me down
In that open field out on the edge of town
And know my soul
Is where my momma always prayed that it would go
If you're reading this I'm already home

If you're reading this there's gonna come a day
When you move on and find someone else and that's Okay
Just remember this, I'm in a better place
Where soldiers live in peace and angels sing "Amazing Grace"

So lay me down
In that open field out on the edge of town
And know my soul
Is where my momma always prayed that it would go
If you're reading this I'm already home

So I proposed an Idea. How about Poems? Showing our support for what they do, and sending them our best?

This would indicate that I would have permission to Print and send your poems to the soldiers serving Over Seas.

*Important* If I do not have permission to print your poem, then Please do not enter!

Point donations are welcome, I'll add as many as I can myself, And anyone who would like to participate in donating points for the cause of soldiers, please IM me!

I would like to have a couple of Co-Hosts for this contest, If anyone would like to volunteer to help judge this contest with me please feel free to contact me!

This really is a good cause. I really hope that this Contest takes off.

Rules:
Keep it clean
Share your heart.
Basic rules of no sticky caps and profanity only within context and used properly. No F**k This F**k That. kind of thing please. This is to show our support and caring.

Thank you!

*Donations* Thank you for your support!

  • Final notes:
I want to thank each and every one of you for your powerful enteries. And a special thank you to Joyce, aka sunny day, For helping me with this contest. Her entry could not be moved to finalist because she helped with the contest, But please everyone take the time to read it. Its a wonderful write.

I will send these off to a friend of mine who has young men serving right now. Your concern and caring for our hero's will be felt by many.

Every poem here deserves gold, however we cannot do that, so everyone who entered will receive either 1st, 2nd, 3rd or an HM for their entry. Since the system only alots 30 points for each HM, I will personally be transfering 60 additional points to each person. Thank you everyone for helping me with this project of hope.

The contest has ended and a big cheer for the host Lissa. As hard as it was to read all these wonderful entries I made it through. Many tears shed. My heartiest congratulations to everyone for their lovely work and loving hearts. You all deserved gold and unfortunately the system didn't allow that. Just know you are all special. Love and God bless all of you, Joyce

I will print your name with the poem. I want to make a copy for each branch of the services to spread the support so that not just One branch or unit receives the support.
