      It is a organization through schools to try to better your childs education and parent support.

          They have meetings to get parents input and do fund raisers and things like that for schools and such like bookfairs. I hope that helps some more.

      Oh, yeah... It's an American thing...

      In the U.S. schools have parent clubs that support school activities and fund raisers. It is called "P.T.A." and stands for Parent and Teachers Association. The members pay to join and the money goes to the national organization. In return for that, the national organization provides insurance for school activities. Like if somebody breaks their leg at the Halloween Carnival, the PTA is supposed to provide legal help.
