I wrote better than that one!!!

UPDATE:
If your poem is already in a contest with a possibility of winning a trophy, why would it work in this contest?
Also, if it has won a trophy please don't expect to win anything as I think it only fair that the ones WITHOUT trophies or HM's stand more of a chance - thank you

Okay, it has come to my attention (many, MANY times!) that there are 'unhappy' writers who believe that their writing is better than the one who won the Gold Trophy ... lol

What I want here is for you to enter the poem that you thought was better than the gold winner and I'll be the judge as to whether it actually was (cough, cough ... not that MY opinion means much, but hey, I have some points and would like to hand them to somebody deserving )

1. Please note that I don't play favourites, so I don't care whether I know who the submission is from or not Strangely, this contest was actually INSPIRED by one of my favourites who complains about his writing being better .... lmao!

2. SPELLING AND GRAMMAR DEFINITELY COUNT!

3. I suffer from SCSS (my own diagnosis of what I have ) = Short Concentration Span Syndrome, so DON'T make it too long!

4. I'm going to be painfully honest in my comments on your work (and I comment on ALL), but please note that IT IS NOT A PERSONAL THING - I am merely saying what the brain is telling me to, so ... ~shrug~ deal with it - IF YOU HAVE A PROBLEM, THEN TAKE YOUR ENTRY OUT OF MY CONTEST ... AFTER ALL - IT IS MY CONTEST

5. I don't do religion well at all, so please don't submit anything to do with it

6. I am rather open minded, ergo, anything other than religion can be entered

7. I AM the judge, therefore if I choose to close this contest early, it shall be done deal with it!

Contest is Over

  • Contest was judged on September 28, 2007
  • Rewards: Gold: 500, Silver: 200, Bronze: 100, Honorable mention: 24 people
  • Final notes:
I, unfortunately, cannot give every poem a gold, but the gold, silver and bronze that I chose was purely from my perspective - I enjoy writes that keep my attention and can paint an image in as few words as possible, that is the reason why the top three got the trophies. I have given each of the rest of you an HM which brings me to the reason I'm closing this contest early ... lol - if I had to keep it open much longer my points would be depleted completely!
I was a bit disappointed that despite the fact that I asked for a poem that HAD NOT won a trophy, they were still entered ~shrug~
Anyway, fair is fair, I cannot take away from one or two now ...
thank you all for your entries
(Now your writes DO have trophies )

    I don't play fair!

I would love to think that mine are better, but I know some aren't. I will love to see what you get, but I cannot think of one contest where winning really mattered as much as the comments that I did recieve. Good idea for a contest though!Good luck! the Shaker

I agree with you WHOLEHEARTEDLY Shakes-spear! It's the comments and the appreciation that count more to me than anything else - if my write has touched at least one person, then it makes me happy

    Comparisons are impossible.

Of COURSE your poem was better.
You birthed it and it is precious to you.

True, but it has come to my attention (through a favourite of mine) that there is a lot of 'favouritism' shown and only the person's favourites (way too many 'favourites' in this sentence! ) seem to win anything - please feel free to enter if you thought your poem was better than the winning one if you feel so inclined
