See the image?
yes-
it's the view from my front door
I live in a 2 up, 2 down terraced house
that is over 140yrs old
5 miles out of the City of Manchester
England
Now, the contest:
I want grit, grime and history
this has to have an age to it
& here's the click
there must be a Manchester reference in it!
and for all fellow plumers from across the pond
this isn't that hard to do! - go google my city
and do a bit of research
for those who enter who know a bit about me already,
you should be able to cobble something together, easily enough
this isn't about me,
it's a life thing
it's a love thing
it's muck and brass
back to back
Are you Mad for It?
the RULES:
THERE AREN'T ANY APART FROM
ALL PLUMES AND POMES AND POSIES TO BE LEFT ALIGNED
go now .... go .......
EXTENDED THIS CONTEST BY A WEEK, HOPING FOR A FEW MORE ENTRIES
SPREAD THE WORDS FOLKS... THANKS
G. x *rose*
Contest is Over
- Contest was judged on October 10, 2007
- Rewards: Gold: 500, Silver: 250, Bronze: 100, Honorable mention: 7 people
- Final notes: many thanks to everyone who took part in this little contest..
in the end with the judging i went with what got me thinking and had an eye on the prize... and David's boxing man, mixed old with new... and he drew me..
and Mary got silver, as Suzi said in a comment on the piece, all she had missing was my door alarm... and she could be on my street... I'll let her off with Trafford not being quite in Manchester.. hehehhe - ahem.. but great great imagery
and Blankscreen, who i don't really know.. but she practically moved into my house with all my familia mentioned.. good old Gorton and Grey Mare Lane Market.. well done - and ooops... blank is a lassie...
- sorry hun
so, again, thank you to all
G.x

big
zzzz to you first dear Gillian
. It has been too long and forever that I have been by anything of yours
<-----sorry, sorry sorry me
.
Anyway,I love the pic for my own reasons...reminds me of the house row where one of my dear uncles lived as I was growing up.......140 years old<-----a real wow factor. As I look at new modern construction here in US now , I have always wondered what will still be around in the future , for it crumbles and falls in no time flat. It seems a few clapboards held by nails fetches quite a penny, so therefore it is built...1, 2, 3 done...no foundation , no re-inforcements of any sorts. In 140 years there might be a sign "dust to dust"
. I have given my Muse time off for good behavior as I am busy doing other things....but should she decide on an early return, I 'll send her this way. Wishing you a succesful contest,
much love
xoxoxoxo

-
-
sure thing hun..... as long as you make it a manchester plume

-
-
you remember I wrote one once about just plain Chester, without the Man? (not manly enough for Manchester, perhaps, all those silly leaded windows, the "looky-loo" architecture.
sweet jesus, girl, have you not heard of internet safety? you've practically led me to your door, and though I've been masquerading as a kindly old zara all these years, that photo on my page is just my latest victim. you watch yourself, mama, or you'll be next. I salivate to think of it.
ahem (you don't HAVE to say it's where YOU live, eh?)
meanwhile, we shall see if the universe shifts, to pull me away from my main creative endeavour these weeks, which is my work. Last poem? that was a universe shift.
we'll see. love ya.
