Truly unexpected was winning Nighthope's PIF (Pay It Forward) contest,

In honour of my profound surprise (okay, and because it was a PIF) here we are ...

The image ("Berries" by Alex Stokes) is just an example of the prompt, which is:

RULES

Gold must run a PIF contest.

Not holding this one Anonymously.
Freeverse ONLY for this one.
No chatspeak
No cutting, suicide, homicide, etc.
NO sticky caps (SoRry).
No complaining at judgement time.
Avoid cliche.
Use Poetic Devices (Alliteration; Metaphor; Pace et al)
At least 15 lines!
Label appropriately (Adult or Erotica if required etc)
Have fun

Contest is Over

  • Contest was judged on September 15, 2007
  • Rewards: Gold: 300, Silver: 200, Bronze: 100, Honorable mention: 4 people
  • Final notes:
    First: apologies for the judging delay. I had a nasty flu just because the contest closed and had to catch up on work commitments that had fallen behind.

    That said, this was not easy judging people. Each place is separated from the one above (with the possible exception of Gold, which did stand out to me) by the barest of margins. I reordered so many times that in the end I just had to let my gut make the final call. I added another HM, because I really did not feel anyone deserved to feel unappreciated here.

    There were such a diverse range of entries - the very different styles (were there two alike? - I didn't see them) made sorting them all the harder. So yes, well done to all and thank you for your patience.

    Remember Gold - you need to pay it forward.

    That really is a great picture. Hopefully I can get something in there, not feeling too good today and have a docs appointment (did yoiu really need to know this?)
