"Just a normal day
Streets turn into graves
Traces have been removed
The search was disapproved
So cold the night
The weak ones lose the fight
Too many of them out there
No one seems to care
Lost and so alone
Born but never known
Left all on their own
Forgotten children
We'll never hear a name
They carry all the blame
Too young to break the chains
Forgotten children
They see
They feel
Believe
Just like we do
They're laughing
And crying
Wanna live here
Like me and you
Eyes without light
So tired of goodbyes
Never felt embraced
And frightened of every face
A life in disguise
Hope forever died
Lost and so alone
Born but never known
Left all on their own
Forgotten children
We'll never hear a name
They carry all the blame
Too young to break the chains
Forgotten children
They see
They feel
Believe
Just like we do
They're laughing
And crying
Wanna live here
Like me and you
It shouldn't really be that way
It shouldn't really be that way
We see
We feel
Believe
Just like you
We're laughing
And crying
Wanna live here
We see
We feel
Believe
Just like you
We're laughing
And crying
Wanna live here
Just like you"
(Tokio Hotel - Forgotten Children)
This is a lyrics inspired contest (obviously).
The song can be found on YouTube, if you want to listen to it. But you don't have to.
I want...
- No profanity
- No erotica
- Nothing political
- No bashing of anyone or anything (that includes Tokio Hotel)
- No humorous or happy poems
- Fresh writes, but I am allowing pre-writes as well. Make sure it is on topic if you submit a pre-write though!
- Multiple entries allowed... but don't go overboard!
Thanks and good luck!
Annie

Contest is Over
- Contest was judged on September 26, 2007
- Rewards: Gold: 300, Silver: 200, Bronze: 100, Honorable mention: 2 people
- Final notes: This was the most depressing contest I have ever hosted... I do not mean that in a negative way. I asked for sad poems - and I received them. I had so many excellent entries and I was really hard for me to choose the winners.
I am super sorry that I did not manage to judge this one earlier. I was busy doing all my school work and just had no time to comment on all the entries and make a fair (at least in my opinion) decision.
Fortunately, today I was just in the right mood for judging this contest. I went to the Buchenwald concentration camp (Germany) yesterday because of a history project.
So, why am I telling you all this? Simply because I realized that there were so many "forgotten children", not necessarily children in a literal way... But still, they were forgotten or ignored by those living in the nearby town... Those who said they did even not know such camps existed...
We all need to make sure that history will not repeat itself!
Okay, guys, that's all of my little "speech"... Just thought this was something I had to share with people...
GOLD - Turn A Blind Eye
SILVER - Dying Alone
BRONZE - Forgotten Child
HM - Born innocent
HM - Claws and Talons
Thanks everyone for entering and for your patience!

Very touching lyrics...so many children today are left out in the world to go work to earn a living. Its all so sad, really. They should be enjoying their childhood. Life can be so harsh at times...maybe its all to do with karmic balance of the previous birth(s), but yet, my heart goes out to all of them. May God take care of these little angels.
