You are a poet. That means I'm expecting a lot out of you. Don't dissapoint.

I don't care if you write about emo stuff. I really don't. I do care if you write badly written and poorly thought out emo stuff.
I have total control of what entries stay and what entries go. Don't argue.
I will probably comment on all entries, but it will just be a thanks for entering.
Option number in authors comments.
Options:
1. Write about the most controversial thing that you feel strongly about. I don't care what side you take. Even if it's politically incorrect, even if I'm offended by what you wrote, if you wrote it well, you have a chance of winning. This means CONTROVERSIAL. Not something that is a problem but we all agree on the answer pretty much. Yes, it's a problem, but we know the answer. I want to hear something that we don't have a clear cut answer on. Something to stir up the masses. Cause an arguement. Heat up a debate. Give me passion and sensationalism.
2. If you could turn back time, where would you go. It can be in your life, in history, to anywhere, any time before the present. Be creative. I'm purposly being vauge with the option because I'd like this to be diverse.
3. Describe to me a place. A large place, like a state, country, or geographical region. Express it's character. Fictional (of your own creation, no fanfics), Historical, or present day, I don't care.
4. In the same vein, describe to me a culture. A pop-culture, a sub-culture, the culture of a region, country, or state. Fictional (of your own creation, no fanfics), Historical, or present day, I don't care. I want to feel the character of those people.
5. Make propoganda. Be creative. I will be impressed if you do this well, confused if you do it badly.
6. Write a poem about a piece of liturature. Your choices are:
Wuthering Heights
Julius Caesar
The Good Earth
To Kill A Mockingbird
On The Beach
I wrote poems on Wuthering Heights and Julius Caesar for my English class, and I realized how many angles there were that could be used. Be creative. You will get tons and tons of bonus points for being creative. Think OUTSIDE of the box.
7. Science. Mix the topic of intellicalism and scientific thought into an everyday situation or emotion. Write it with the tone of a scientist, however you believe they would write it. This is one of the main topics of my poetry, a major theme in what I write. So do it badly and I will know your mistakes. But if you do well, then I might ask you for a few pointers.
8. Write a decently sized poem that is happy and beautiful throughout it's length, but ends with a sudden sinister, tragic, or bitter end. The reverse, a sad/sinister/tragic poem with an inspiring ending will be accepted as well.
9. Write me non-fiction. This can be prose or poetry. Narrative or informative or persuasive are accepted. Include either: Humor, Irony, or general wittiness.
10. Write to me about distance. Interpret the prompt however you wish.

Contest is Over
- Contest was judged on September 16, 2007
- Rewards: Gold: 300
- Final notes: We have our winners! There were several excellent writes, and no bad ones. I'm impressed, because usually my contests are plauged with writers trying to pass of a jumble of words as something worthwhile, but you all did very well.
1st place: The Petals Would Fall
I really liked this. The form worked well with the words and the ending left me with an emotional twang at the end. Exactly what I wanted from the option.
2nd place: String Theory
Had this been a little less abstract, it would have won, for sure. I really love the common images blended with the scientific theory. Nicely done.
3rd place: Love's Death
Neatly done, clear, got the point across. Interpreted the prompt very well.
Honorable mention: Blue Fire- The meeting of three
I was impressed and daunted at the size of this work. There was obviously a lot of effort here. I liked the rhyme amongs many of the sentences. While the fantasy elements had a twinge of cliche, the use of language was good. It probably would have scored higher if it hadn't been so long, but I put that in the prompt, so I will take the blame. The description of detail was what I wanted.
Thank you all very much. Keep writing! I hope to read your work soon!
