Second Image

Let the image be your muse...

Bemuse me.

1. You will lose points for typos, so spell and grammar check.
2. You will lose points for forced rhyme, so I recommend free verse unless you really know what you're doing.
3. You will be disqualified if you try to enter a prewrite, so don't! I will check! If it was not written for this contest, I consider it a prewrite.
4. You will be disqualified if I find this poem entered in another contest before I have judged this one. Again, I will check.

1st place will get you a gold trophy and 400 points.
2nd place will get you a silver trophy and 200 points.
3rd place will get you a bronze trophy and 100 points.
Honorable Mention will get you an honorable mention.

If any HMs get awarded and the poem is really good, I may spring for a trophy.

Enjoy! And tell your friends... ~ Phoenix

Update: Contest is now closed for judging and commenting. Thanks to everyone who entered.

No. This is Ecstasy of St. Teresa by Bernini. You can read about it here:

The angle the photo was taken is different, but an image search should give you better shots.

What a great contest. Just that small detail from Bernini's statue--and what a range of responses. It's fascinating to see how the essential feminine in her face is interpreted by different imaginations. Thanks for the prompt.
