Photo Credit goes to Jean Dubuffet - "Butterfly Wings"
This contest is open to everyone!
Hello All!
I won a PIF contest hosted by the wonderful "Poeticweaver," and it's my turn to pay it forward. This is a PROMPT contest, just like his was. So here it is:
Your prompt: "Butterfly Wings"
Please do not use "Butterfly Wings" in your title. Be creative, folks. And....Please do not write me a poem about butterfly wings, and how pretty they are, or you will be DQ'd.
This is not to say you cannot include them in your write. Again, be creative. Write about what the sight of butterfly wings evokes in your mind, or how seeing them makes you feel, etc... Rules:
Make it a metaphorical poem, please.
Please keep your poems to a reasonable length. No epics or books, please. Be kind to my mind
Make good use of your poetic devices, spelling, grammar, metaphors, and the like.
You may use whatever form or genre you like....light or dark, free verse or form.
Left align please.
Use a plain background, or one that does not detract from the poem you enter.
No cutting, suicude, or bashing...though I can't see where the prompt would evoke such feelings.....
Feel free to use the picture, but credit the photographer - Jean Dubuffet. If you can't give credit where credit is due, don't enter. You would expect the same credit if it were yours.
Last, and MOST important....HAVE FUN!!!
This contest will close after 25 entries, so get writing!!
Don't be disappointed if I remove you from the contest. It doesn't mean you wrote a bad poem, it simply means that I am looking for a specific kind of poem. It also gives you the chance to re-enter another if you so choose. I welcome it.
Ready...
Set....
GO!!!
Contest is Over
- Contest was judged on September 8, 2007
- Rewards: Gold: 300, Silver: 200, Bronze: 100, Honorable mention: 5 people
- Final notes: Thanks all for your patience with me. I have had much trouble with my monitor. It keeps shrinking the picture down to 1 inch tall, and I can't read a thing!
Anyway, to the contest!! This one was the absolute hardest one I have EVER had to judge (could you hear me pounding the e-v-e-r keys??)! The display of talent in this contest was STELLAR, to say the very least! I enjoyed every entry, and found it extremely difficult to choose. Yeppers...another migraine1 LOL!!
So, here it is. I am giving away @ sets of trophies! There was simply too many gorgeous entries this time. I will be sending a link to the other set of winners, who are:
Autumn Late Flutter ~ Gold
For Diane ~ Silver
The Butterfly Effect ~ Bronze
Without Wings ~ Honorable
Eulogy Of Love ~ Honorable
I don't know who the above poets are until I close, so watch for the links you 5!!
CONGRATULATIONS to one and all. It has been an honor reading your beautiful poetry!
Love and laughter to you all.
