Member since June 15 2004.

Last time I counted she had 671 trophies

48 122 comments

2 columns

3 306 poems!

One of her favourite quotes is this one:

"Among the Haida Indians of the Pacific Northwest, the verb
for 'making poetry' is the same as the verb 'to breathe'."

~ Tom Robbins, from the book: "Another Roadside Attraction"

She published her own book of poetry in 2006, titled “Swanee Sighs”, and has been published in “Eyes of the Poet’ as well as many other anthologies.

Her motto is “Hope brings light to darkness” and she truly lives that motto. Night Hope lives and breathes poetry. There is no other poet here on AP who had written more tribute poems for and about other poets than what she did. Wanda (Night Hope) is AP – there can be no AP without her – an amazing woman, poet and friend.

Please write a poem to Wanda, for Wanda or about Wanda. You can write a response to one and/or be inspired by one of her poems, if you'd like to...but please do not attempt to re~write it for her; it can't be done any better than she already wrote it herself, I assure you. If you choose to do this, please put the title of her poem and a link to it in your comments.

Please write something beautiful for her.

She hasn’t been feeling well these last couple of weeks.

Wanda (Night Hope) is AP – there can be no AP without her – an amazing woman, poet and friend.

No truer words were ever spoken. Of course I'll breathe for her.

Wonderful contest from two of the best for one of the best on AP.

Burning House is a Night Hope kind of house. But then Burning House also is a Day Hope kind of house. In fact, Burning House is a 24/7 Hope Diamond kind of house. One does not burn without sparkling -- and Burning House is a BIG-ass diamond sparkling kind of house. Burning House notes that the inspirational quote here is "Hope brings light to darkness", and what better to bring light to darkness than a Burning House? You don't light a fire with just any wood, you know, and at night Burning House's wood is not only on fire -- it SMOKES! Just ask Natalie Portman or Britney Spears, who each went bald after being scorched by Burning House. Yes, Burning House wood is the best type of wood to raise, pound, and hammer and bring hope to anyone, day or night.

So Burning House approves of this contest, but does not seem to be able to applaud anymore. Which makes Burning House burn.... Hrmph!

I'd just bet that burning house smells like mesquite, which everyone knows makes everything so very tasty.

Burning House is, indeed, a mesquite type of house. When your pork smokes, you do in fact think "Burning House." Burning House has been known to be a "Red Hot" type of house too. Burning House also loves ribs, and it is not uncommon to hear someone comment, "I love it when Burning House is ribbed," though that often coincides with college football season, when it's also not uncommon to hear the expression "Burning House does love those Trojans." Which is odd, when Burning House thinks about it, because Burning House really has no immediate connection to USC. Well, then again, Burning House IS a Hollywood type of house, so I suppose it does make sense to hear those discussions about Burning House and Trojans on Hollywood Boulevard...

Inspired by: The Beach Boys "Help me Rhonda"

Well since she picked me up
I've been living loving in my head
    I get up early morn'
and in the ev'ning dreamin' in my bed

Well, Wanda you look so fine (look so fine)
And I know it wouldn't take much time
For you to help me Wanda
Help me live my lifes new start

    Help me Wanda
    Help, help me Wanda
    Help me Wanda
    Help, help me Wanda
    Help me Wanda
    Help, help me Wanda
    Help me Wanda
    Help, help me Wanda
    Help me Wanda
    Help, help me Wanda
    Help me Wanda
    Help, help me Wanda
    Help me Wanda yeah
Get love back into my heart

I was dying and not trying
    And I was gonna disappear
But Wanda would work her murmuring magic
    And sway sweetly fleetly
    fixin' feelings by shedding tears

Well, Wanda you caught my eye (caught my eye)
And I can give you lotsa reasons why
You helped a lot my Wanda
Helped me get a soulful new start

    You helped me Wanda
    You help, helped me Wanda
    You helped me Wanda
Helped get love back into my heart

Jus' me bein' my silly self You know what you REALLY mean to me.
I'll have somethin' for the contest this weekend!

Forum or no forum, since I have stopped reading the forums...I think it is really up to a contest host/s to handle the distribution of awards and recognition in their contests however they wish. I agree that this one was given the best approach that was most suitable to its hosts and participants.

Burning House is a "slow to learn when a contest has ended" kind of House, but is nonetheless also a grateful cabin. Burning House therefore appreciates the green thing that now graces Burning House's author page, because Burning House is an Irish kind of house -- and with a contest being hosted by two lovely women, and about a third lovely woman, Burning House is reminded that you can "never have too much Irish in you."
