I have been inspired by my oil and acrylic paint set, so you will write about colors! I have a list of 20 colors below; you might have to look up some of them and some are the same color (i.e. cerulean and ultramarine are both blue, just different shades). Of course, I don't want you to write simply about the color itself. Find the deeper meaning, what feelings and memories it represents, etc. Make it good.
I like metaphors. And lots of imagery. And lots of emotion. (wink wink, nudge nudge, say no more...)
As you can see, I've limited this to 20 entries, so everyone will have to write about a different color. Please message me with the color of your choice and I will cross it off from the list with your name.
Here goes:
1. cerulean *TAKEN-(anonymous)*
2. ultramarine *TAKEN-Alleksa Jan*
3. viridian *TAKEN-rainwalker*
4. cyan *TAKEN-LiesOfDevotion*
5. malachite *TAKEN-TheUntoldSecrets*
6. vermilion *TAKEN-Moosey*
7. carmine *TAKEN-neon twilight*
8. cerise *TAKEN-Manectric*
9. alizarin
10. sienna, burnt or raw *TAKEN-lizaveta*
11. burnt umber
12. indigo *TAKEN-Amaranthine Lover*
13. ochre
14. sable
15. alabaster
16. obsidian *TAKEN-RedRoseSpiral*
17. tangerine *TAKEN-PatheticKt*
18. aubergene
19. mauve
20. heliotrope
Um, rules:
-no erotica, sensual is fine
-length doesn't matter, but I'm easily bored with longer poems
-your poem ought to have the color as the central theme. If I can't find the connection, or if it's way too vague, I will DQ, sorry.
-please, sappiness makes me puke. Other than that, any genre, form, etc. is fine. If you rhyme, though, it had better be good as hell.
-one entry per person
-no prewrites...for now...
Yuck. That's enough rules. On a completely different note, I did write a poem where I used 18 of those colors, I believe. http://allpoetry.com/poem/3284406 You can check it out if you want, it doesn't matter.
I will try to comment all of them. School has started for me, however, and it might be a bit hard, since my teachers seem to enjoy shoving loads and loads and simply HOURS of homework down our abused throats. =/
Anyway, good luck!
EDIT: I'm extending it because there are still 9 colors left. ^^ I already have really amazing entries, but there are still some equally amazing colors left to choose (purple is feeling rather lonely)...

Contest is Over
- Contest was judged on August 25, 2007
- Rewards: Gold: 400, Silver: 200, Bronze: 100, Honorable mention: 3 people
- Final notes: Wow, the entries were spectacular! It was really, really hard for me to judge. There were many I couldn't decide upon. I also added two more HM's because they were just that good.
I encourage you to read all of the entries, especially the trophy winners (of course)!
