I've shied away from holding any contests [this is my first] - mainly because I didn't feel qualified enough to judge.

However, I'm feeling much more confident lately and, over the last few months, I've amassed over 15K of points - only spent maybe 1000. I don't use the 'featured' or 'reward' systems much, so here I am to burn off some clogging fattiness.

EDITED ADDITION:
Arggh! Okay, I'm upping the points ... because, since I posted this contest, I've earned more points than I was burning (Not a complaint to all potential other judges) - so yeah ... more points for all.

*more happiness*

DA CONTEST

The picture above is of the female oestrogen hormone. Ain't it purdy?! You may use it for inspiration or not - I'm unfussy.

For those who don't know, I'm transgendered, a pre-op m2f about to start a scary physical journey. If you want background, see my profile page.

Up for a challenge? I hope so. I want people to explore gender. Write whatever you want - it does NOT have to centre on Transgendered states - but you must explore how you define "Gender."

What is IT when all the flesh is stripped back? Voices wishing to claim that it is a binary system are free to do so, just frame your work well is all I ask. I'm pretty hard to offend, but if there is a way - bad poetry is it!

DA RULES

No chatspeak
No cutting, suicide, homicide, etc.
NO sticky caps (SoRry mELodIeS!).
No complaining at judgement time.
Erotica is fun, just don't make it blantant! Sensual is good.
Avoid cliche.
Use Poetic Devices (Alliteration; Metaphor; Pace et al)
At least 15 lines!
Label appropriately (Adult or Erotica if required etc)
Have fun

That is all!

Contest is Over

  • Contest was judged on August 23, 2007
  • Rewards: Gold: 1200, Silver: 600, Bronze: 300, Honorable mention: 3 people
  • Final notes:
I must have changed the placings a dozen times at least. Separating to top two was nightmare, let alone trying to sort out the others. The range of style and content was so broad it made ultimate comparisons come down to nothing but gut. Ordering them all tomorrow, I'd probably have 7 new arrangements. Now I know why I've stayed away from holding these contest things!! Arrgh! Thank you everyone. I am more than pleased with the turnout for my first venture and could not have asked for much more than such a high quality field. There will be another one soon - stay tuned

Heh. I agree - and to show how all things vary by perspective, I'm very much looking forward to regular doses of PMT making injections soon

No - I didn't ... I was being obtuse (we Australians do that)

As to names, I've already sorted that: Lisa & Rachael
              (for Left and Right)

is she being obtuse.. and then i thought.. jesus- do i have to explain it's a joke- i went for the latter

good idea the coded name thingy.. you don't want to get 'em confused when putting them to bed

Indeed - also useful for anyone who kisses them goodnight and tucks them into bed.

Brave? Nah - there are 2 choices. Be true or be false. I tried the latter and managed longer than most (I did denial very well!) but even I couldn't hold out and now, I can't see why I ever wanted to!

I forgot to list that - oops. I set it to one per person. I feel that's more likely to get people thinking. Fret not though - this is but the first in a series of Gender/Politics/Transition contests

Man, I wish I knew how I view gender ... seems like I've been choaked by the XX chromie and loved to death by the XY for so long ... and now that the primary mission of both is coming to an end ... I feel like there must be a third choice At least in me ... maybe other people have a clearer idea of their gender identity and hormonal balances ... at least enough to feel like they have one Great contest though ... makes me think ... and definitely makes me want to read the entries!

Thankyou very, very much for silver for my write for it was from my heart, congratulations to Cinnary and Muddy and the the other entrants who were able to bring to the table something worthy of place mat,we are ALL individuals whatever our orientatation, gender or colour and it it is my firm belief that we choose not these but only choose our reactions to situations and towards others,as long as what we are and who we are hurts no one then surely we should be allowed to be who we are? Enough of my rambling, many blessings,Yvette

Well I guess I got off lucky there then. Several arrangement had you higher in the list ... and I feel you're the honest type, who'd not be impressed in granted honours you felt undeserved in the face of other work. Though to be honest, I got still rearrange them endlessly. I swear, this experience has given me a world of respec for those who run good contests often and always seem to get the judging order right
