Haiku's About Water 'n' stuff... Prewrites Welcome

I want great haiku's

Rules-

I don't care what they are about... the title is an inside joke.

Don't suck.
Have talent.
Make me proud.

No limit to number of entries.

Contest is Over

  • Contest was judged on August 18, 2007
  • Rewards: Gold: 1000, Silver: 200, Bronze: 100, Honorable mention: 5 people
  • Final notes:
Hey folks! What a hard contest to judge, with so many entries and such a rich field of great poetry! I simply let my heart decide. There is no question in my mind about the winner. It nwas my favorite hands down. From there, it got dicey. The next several could have been arranged in any order and I would have been dissatisfied that they all couldn't be second place.

    I gave three comments.

Nice means it was indeed thoughtful and interesting.

Very nice means it was above average.

Any other comment meant that you had done something very special. Seeing that there were over 80 entries, do not feel bad if you did not place. There were plenty of winning quality poems in this contest. I truly enjoyed reading them all.

Awww, you swiped a haiku-idea I had in mind right under my nose. I even picked-up the perfect graphic for the Contest Page. I guess great minds think alike!

No problem though, Allan...You beat me to it and I'm kinda glad you did because now I can write up an entry to your contest.

    I'll be back!

OK, I added the graphic--(Only after I noticed the "title an inside joke" stuff), but if you don't like it, feel free to delete it.

The image would look great with a black background--(AP color #000000) and a gray font color--(#DDDDDD),
so if you really wanna appear Contest-Page fancy, give it a go!

I've taken my name as co-host...My editting job's done. It's time to write some haiku!!!

syllable count? are you accepting only 5-7-5 ? although i could not find any mention about it in the rules, all the entries seem to be in that format. please clarify?

If it qualifies as a haiku by dictionary definition, I will accept it. An explanation in your author's notes may eleiminate any confusion.

Wow Allan thank you so much for the gold in this contest, I am still relatively new to haiku, but you have given me a huge confidence boost to keep writing. I am glad you enjoyed. Thanks again and congrats to everyone in the contest.
