Write me a Poem about History {{Editted to Allow Pre-Writes}}

I want poems about a historical event. I want imagery, I want emotions. You can use any event in history prior to 3 decades ago except the World Wars, Vietnam War, or the Holocaust. It would be cool if you wrote something I had not heard of before.
Please put the event in the Author's Notes.
All poems will be commented on.

Only 30 entries.

**Rules**
1. No race, religion, etc. bashing.
2. No sticky caps. You know what I mean.
3. No internet chat lingo. There should be no reason in a poem like that anyway.
4. If you do not put the event in the author's note you will be disqualified.
5.
6. No erotica unless absolutely necessary to portray the event.

Contest is Over

  • Contest was judged on August 19, 2007
  • Rewards: Gold: 350, Silver: 205, Bronze: 150, Honorable mention: 21 people
  • Final notes:
    You all did an excellent job on this contest, and it was hard to judge. For the most part, all of the poems depicted emotion well. Thank you all so much for entering!
    Write on.

    History contest

    If you can transfer my poem called "War Children" into your contest, you can put it in there that would be good. I, also, have another called "Kaltfront im Juni" about retell of my visit to Death Camp, but I did not visit Nazi Cementary around same time as that camp though.
