Sunsets Are Best {Shared}, Sunrises Are Best {Alone}

--x Firstly, the title of this contest comes from a comment RatherImaginative left on one of my poems and I thought it was a great quote. x--

--x Anyway, if you hadn't gathered, in this contest I am looking for beautiful Sunrise and Sunset poems. I believe they are one of the most beautiful, magical, inspiring sights that nature chose to bestow upon us. I would love to see great imagery, originality, beauty and a story (in poem form, I don't want prose) would be fun too - though none of these are mandatory, so just write what you want and I will probably like it. x--

--x I have to say I much prefer rhyming poetry that flows well, but I do like some freeverse so, go wild. x--

--x Everyone seems to say what number contest this is for them, so I may as well tell you this is my 5th contest. I haven't been able to go on AllPoetry much recently and so haven't been able to comment much. This also coincides with a purple patch I've gone into with winning trophies, so I have an abundance of points that I really don't need, so I'm going to share them with whoever chooses to enter this contest! You lucky devils! The points are starting low, but I am sure I will get many quality entries and as I do the points will go up. Honourable Mentions will also be added (I gave away 17 in my last contest I think) so you have a good chance of winning something, which is always nice =) x--

--x I will try to comment on every entry as quickly as possible, though some may be more detailed than others x--

--x Rules x--

--x I'm not a big fan of the whole rules thing so I only have a few (they're more like guidelines anyway - everyone should know which film that's from!) x--

--x Prewrites are absolutely, definitely, most certainly ALLOWED.

--x I prefer rhyme and meter, but you don't have to use it.

--x Enter up to 3 poems, but if you do you will only win one trophy, I feel this is fairer.

--x Just use your common sense really

--x No I'm not going to get you to write something ludicrous in your author's comment box (like my favourite new saying: BEWARE the TOAST that has no EARS) and it's easy enough to find out who wrote the poem so I don't care if you stay anonymous or not. I hope you enjoy this contest, and even if you don't (however unlikely that sounds *cough*) then that's too bad. x--

--x Take care everybody and good luck! x--

Contest is Over

  • Contest was judged on September 2, 2007
  • Rewards: Gold: 400, Silver: 200, Bronze: 125, Honorable mention: 22 people
  • Final notes:
Firstly, I had so many fantastic entries that I decided to split it into Sunrises and Sunsets. This is the Sunsets section of trophies and I will open another contest for the Sunrise entries to get their trophies (I will send all those who have got one a personal message)

Secondly, thank you to everyone who entered with their wonderful poems and pictures, making this my most successful contest yet, wahey! Give yourselves a pat on the back

Anyway, congratulations to the winners, and to all the honourably mentioned people (who are in no particular order!), you all fully deserve it.

    The winners:

    Sunset - Quill
Sunset Interval - Never Fall In Love
    Amber Falls - Princess Perdue

Many more of you deserved better than HM but I unfortunately cannot give you what you deserve.

Thank you all again for entering

Oh by the way, I am sorry it took a long time to judge, I was mercilessly beaten down by a bout of Tonsilitis which really wasn't pleasant!

Congrats to the winners and all of you take care x

    ilovethomix
